Is that an oil filled Pickhill Bantam?
I'll agree with the fire hazards. I also do a bit of woodworking so plenty of hazards in the form of sawdust and such to clear out first. Again, auto mask is a fantastic invention. Buy the best you can justify (within reason, don't go getting a 3M Speedglas at £350+ if you're just doing an hour a month) I have an £80 Esab mask, and I use it everyday at work (sheet fabrications) and it's done me well in a proper working environment. Incidentally, since I work in such a place, I do all my thin sheet stuff there, and can get by just fine with my stick welder at home so I made the decision today to sell on my little Clarke mig. It's a 135TE model which seems favoured by hobby car types so if anyone is interested let me know (advertised elsewhere also)

My last 3 have been estates because I find them to be very useful. I've had an E36, with a 1.8. It was a nice car but had a terrible, intermittant and undiagnosable water leakage problem so got rid of that and I won't go back to a BMW. Did used to flick the back end out whenever it pleased too After that was a 2.0L mk3 Legacy (51 plate, bit modern for here) but that was the very best car I've ever had. It did everything I ever asked of it, it started every time, never had anything go wrong, all the AWD system worked, including the hi-lo transfer box which made light work of the Yorkshire Dales. Sadly the clutch disintigrated last Oct and after 4 years I was ready to move on, so I didn't repair it (haven't managed to sell it yet either :/ ) Currently a 2.5 Outback, (53 plate) after Subaru split the Outback and the Legacy lines making it a mk1 Outback but is basically a mk4 Legacy. Thirsty when you're a bit throttle happy but seems to return pretty good MPG's when you're sensible. Might swap to a diesel mk4 Legacy in a year or so if it gets too much to run. But I would recomend Subaru quite highly.

My dad used to have a smiley faced Transit with a luton body when he was at BT in the early 90's. Proper grey with the piper on the side. Luton body was a mobile workshop for servicing telegraph poles and exchanges. When he left he was given all his free issue tools (Footprint were the supplier at the time) and so most of the stuff that I have that he's given me still has BT stamped on it

It's er, different? Could be a rare bit of fun for someone though. Think the doors are lightweight LR 90's? "Nice easy project" ... for who?! Yeah I did think that, it's hardly a T-Cut rub and an MOT

If I can work out how to do it, I'm in for this! I love these old factory stories of a more interesting time when you could get away with it. The snippets here sound so much like the goings on behind the scenes in Rowntree's, Terry's and the carriageworks here in York, I work with people who've worked there "back in't day" and some of the tales are mad!

Hello!
Sorry to drag this thread up for the third time. But I still have the car. And it still needs to go. I have no idea how I have gotten away with having it on their driveway still, every time I go round I get complained at.
Pretty much everything in my above old posts still stands. Amazingly it even still starts on (usually) the second turn of the key.
Thanks to anyone still reading this haha.

This brings back good memories! I think I was last there in about 2004, it seems not to have changed in the 6 years to when you took your pictures. I'm fairly sure I've been round that about 3 or 4 times, my parents had a house none too far from it and it was a good treat to go round. I may have some of my own pics from the last time I went, failing that then theres a ton of old film ones instead!

Ok so this was last posted in in 2010 apparently...
Erm. 4 years later, and my parents want it off their drive. If I had space to put it at my house, I would but sadly I cannot.
Its a fair bit greener now, it has not moved and is still in the same place as in the above pictures.
It needs new tyres all round. Brake and exhaust as per the original advert. Rocker cover gasket needs replacing but I have one that will get chucked in with it anyway. Obviously long out of tax and MOT. Have a folder with a good long amount of receipts and other assosciated paperwork.
Bring a trailer and £100 and you can have it. Be sad to see it go but I've really not had the inclination to do anything with it and I would rather see it go to someone from here who would stick it back together and put it on the road rather than send it down the scrappy.
Thanks
-Matt-

The Aston doesn't make sense. The sunroof ejector seat hatch looks drawn on and I can't see the slot for the rear bullet proof screen?

The big update. Mainly, that I have moved out of my parents (finally hooray!) and in together with my girlfriend. The workshop/garagey thingy however still stands. But it needs a sort out, a tidy up and a re-arrangement. So this is how it goes. A flick through this thread will show people the rough layout of the place, people have seen enough things in the background and what-have you. A (very much not to scale) plan was hastily drawn: And away we go. Firstly, the white shelving behind the lathe was cleared, and dismantled: It was then moved over to the middle, in line with the central pillar: During the week, my dad (who's clearly awesome for doing this) boarded the shelves out. They're not mine, its for their stuff. Now they can access things on them. And a shot of the other side: As you can see, things are everywhere, but you have to move many things around and have a sort out to make space I suppose. We then emptied and moved the big green cabinet and swapped it where the drill was, along with the cupboard on the wall: And another shot: Thats where we are at the minute. The bench that runs parallel to the white shelving will be replaced at some point in time, when I can obtain a decent bit of kitchen worktop that someone is binning. Shorter cupboards will be affixed above the lathe along with a shelf. I have some more lights to put up over the lathe for a better working light, as well as a plan thats half in progress for the gap between the drill and the other bench. ------- As I said in my previous post about needing to obtain some kitchen worktop to replace the horrible wobbley 'bench' (which isn't a bench, its the ends of a wardrobe fixed together laid on top of supports) then gumtree came up golden. One piece of 5ft long worktop, with another at about 2-3ft (the kitchen sink cut-out bit). Five whole pounds. FIVE. Felt like I was robbing her but she just wanted rid of it. Inbetween the drill and the lathe is another piece of worktop that I rescued from a skip. This is being attached to the end of the bench to the left in the picture and running along under the cupboards making the bench L shaped. The bench grinder will be sited on this and my dad has already run power to a double socket under the spraypainted cupboard to serve the drill and grinder. Next update will probably be us attaching that piece, and making the legs up to mount the big worktop on.

Yeah I want that, no idea where I would store or run it mind (apparently I have to get my Bluebird off the drive before I'm allowed silly things)
I'm assuming for posterity and such to PM regarding discussion of asking price?
Thanks.

More pic dumpage. Car boot purchases. Stuff thats mine being: Bottom right green thing. Short tool rest for the lathe. Not quite the same fitment at mine (round part is too big, will be modifying) - £3.50 Awesome aluminium Speedry marker pen next to it, looks to be 1970s. Needs new tip and felt inside for ink. Will be reconditioning and putting back into use. Tenon saw next to it with the patterned handle. Worked out about £2 (bought with something else off a stall) Just needs a clean of the blade and its good to go. The comically large 30mm skew chisel as well, Henry Taylor branded (well known and respected brand) £20. I expect it'll need a run over the whetstone but other than that its in good shape. And lastly the angle lamp at the top. £15. This is to be fitted over the lathe, but will have a new mounting made in place of the one that it came with so I can clamp it in different places as the magnifying glass included is an added bonus. All the rest of the stuff is my girlfriends, which shes done well with having not spend comedy amounts whilst getting some good quality woodworking stuff for mere pounds.
