Was looking through my PC and found some photos from a holiday to France in 2011. My holidays usually include a visit to a car or aeroplane museum and it seems like 2011 was no different
I can't remember what the museum was called, if you can guess it from these not amazing quality (apologies) photos then feel free to share!
Its also interesting to look back and see what I thought was cool and worth taking a pic of back in 2011
Starting off with a Delahaye, I knew nothing about these back then and can't say I've learnt much about them in the last 4 years, all I know is that this one looked very sleek
Strong Alpine contingent...
I do remember this getting me a bit excited, Flat 12 twin turbo mmmmmm.... I don't think there was any information with it, so I presumed it was some sort of F1 or sports car racing engine? I think Motori Moderni did engines for some back of the grid teams in F1 in the 80's maybe?..
The museum also had a great Group B representation, the Quattro S1 is cool.. but a Nissan 240RS!!
And a BX rally car!! I've got a lot of time for these less well known unloved Group B cars
I did like how they had huge swathes of cars from the same make, take this lot of Lamborghini's par example
Big Barges up next
Then time for a few pugs
This had me in stitches as to me it looked like a lunchbox with wheels stuck on
A V6 Turbo F1 car that you'd actually want to hear going past..
Quite.
This room was pretty awesome I thought, any F1-philes on here may agree.. Low light and poor camera make for poor photos so apologies again..
Out of the dark and into a brace of Facel Vega's. I think I'd only ever seen these in books beforehand so was quite cool to see a few in the flesh
Now. One of the many cool things that France has given to the world in my opinion is the yellow headlight. I don't know why but they're just cool, allow me to try and back up my argument with some examples..
F1-ddler on the roof?.... I'll get my coat
Seems I was keeping an eye out for a cool wheel..
Right hand drive Lotus Cortina a bit far from home
The notion of a Trabant 'Sport' caused some amusement
As did the novel ventilation system..
And finally a couple of cars that I'd spotted out and about, a Citroen Mehari?
And this super cool mini
So there you go, I know museums can be a bit boring with lots of standard, dust covered cars but I thought this one had quite a lot of variety
And if anyone does recognise it and would like to remind me of the name, that would be cool too
