Just a quicky. Can someone explain why a thrid party only quote is more expensive than a comprehensive one on moneysupermarketsite? Should be the other way round for sure? It's an oddity that I've never understood, but surprisingly common. Third Party Fire & Theft normally works out cheaper than Third party only and sometimes fully comp is cheaper again... If it's for anything other than a standard, modern-ish car, call some brokers rather than using comparison sites

Another Passat vote since you clearly have a VAG leaning anyway. We have an AAZ engined B4 estate on cheapy coilovers. You'd get a nice tidy one for that money.. 4x100 pcd, veg friendly, 50+ mpg, and being AAZ, no ECU or electronic stuff to worry about, just a wire to the stop solenoid

Cool Morgan. Shame about the superdry chavtastic logos. I wouldn't say Superdry is a chav brand at all, they have a design-led ethos and a premium positioning - I think bespoke limited edition car branding is an interesting idea for them to dabble in. ...but if you're not a fan, you can configure your own Morgan here! ;D As someone who generally refuses to where wear clothes with any visible logos, it's not for me.. But as a marketing piece for Super Dry, it's stunning. And it is a gorgeous car trike. I'd love to have a play in one Edit for special use of where

Surely the advance curves will be different on a later engine or does it still work well? I've never compared ignition curves, but the later one is from an 1100 Valencia, and would be going onto an 1100 Valencia. I can't imagine there'd be much, if any difference. It's a common and well documented swap. People have used them on bigger engines too (admitedly, I can't imagine it'd be much cop at anything other than standard tune)

Unless you've found killer rust, you owe me a beer I do!! haha completely forgot at the last playday. Probably next see you at the gathering, anything in particular? Couple bottles of something ale-ish would do me fine. No worries, I didn't mention last time since you appeared to end up walletless for some reason

Worth pointing out that the above may not necessarily be the same people. The limited company listed on the website was incorporated Jan 2010. though the website suggests they are well established so could have just decided to form a ltd company and there are plenty of contact details and details of associations they are members of should you wish to look into their legitimacy and they are listed on the usual business directories so (without looking into loads of detail), I'd say you're probably alright, they may just be slow at answering the phone... Anyone would think I vetted credit applications from companies as a living or something ;P

I have a feeling you won't be interested in chunks the chunks of Volvo or Iveco that make up my current meagre hoard though They are cool and £40 is a bargain but life dictates that money is directed more at stuff like this at the moment

Probably ;D My ciders are usually brewed completely by 10 days, with no airlock movement. At that point I rack it off the yeast (don't worry about geting a bit in the new bottle) and add Campden and sorbate. Leave it for a week afterwards by itself to see if it'll clear by itself without using finings. No point adding extra stuff if you don't need it You can taste it now; it'll just taste a bit yeasty. Won't do you any harm. I prefer to add as little as possible, so rack when there's no airlock movement (normally 7-10 days on a TC), leave it until it's clear (3-7 days depending on what's gone into it in my experience), then bottle with sugar to prime and some sweetener to taste. I have both Potassium sorbate and campden tablets in stock but haven't really felt the need to use them on ciders. I guess they're more important on wines. Horses for courses, innit I guess this just means I'll have to experiment with different methods by making more cider, doesn't it?

I've bought a dizzy and coil from a mk2 (though I neglected to get the extra wiring, I'm sure I'll manage..). Haven't changed it yet but should be a fair improvement. Mine suffers in cold/damp starts and the position, right below the inlet manifold, is a right pain in the hole to get to. Still wouldn't do any harm for him to learn to set them up in the meantime though EDIT: In fact, there are plans afoot to put a Ka engine in mine so there's little point in me fitting it for such a short period of time.. You'd be welcome to the bits for what I paid for them. Send me a PM if you're interested

If you haven't got a bung yet.. The thread is M18x1.5. Useful to remember so you can go to a fixings supplier and pay 50p for a nut to weld in as a boss rather than 10 times that for a proper one or want to plug it with a really short bolt rather than an old sparkplug

Following a number of near misses and minor accidents at Area 52, I bought the unit a first aid kit and burns kit for christmas last year.
As far as I know, I'm the only one to have used the first aid kit (more than once..) and the burns kit hasn't been needed yet but safety is something overlooked too often.
Goggles and glasses dotted about within arms reach to prevent lazily just grinding without protection, even if it means 5 pairs per double garage..
FWIW, I use a combination of cheapy tools bought new that have refused to break, some nicer new stuff (including a Halfords Pro socket set) and car boot second hand stuff. Old second hand stuff seems to be better made and/or cared for better in my experience
