Just picked this up tonight £150, been standing for 3 years Gallon of petrol and a new battery and she started ;D Very basic but it does have headlamp wipers High and low ratio, diff lock, 5 speed box and it all works appart from a few bulbs ;D Now do I A sell it as is B clean it up NATO green it and sell it as an off roader C break it and scrap it and get me money back ?? Needs a down pipe and and some fettling but it's surprisingly rust free concidering it's spent the last 3 years in a bush ;D No paperwork due to a split up with a girlfriend who burnt all the paperwork as a goodbye presant while I was there we spent an pleasant rime trying to start this beast V8 diesel ;D HUGE rear end, oh yeh baby got back

Pretty competant off-road, not unreasonable on-road either. Certainly slightly more civilised that an SJ etc, and roadholding is surprisingly good.
Watch for rot in the ront wings and the entire lower 6 inches of the car.
Carbs are not great as standard, but it seemingly has the same mounting footprint as some Webbers, so a reasonably easy swap if needed.
A little under-powered, and really drink the petrol too. Towing a trailer is pretty much a no-go. its only rated to 750gs iirc, and just lacks the grunt to shift even that much.
IMO, clean it up and if the paint is ok-ish, sell as it is. They are getting rare now and quite sought-after by many as an off-road toy. If the paint is gassed NATO it. I wouldnt break it as I doubt there is a massive demand for the parts alone.

if you do break it, I'll buy the locking rear diff, and the operating cable gubbins or I'll trade you for a non-locking one

Just too add more fuel, I believe the Fiat 2.0 Twink pretty much bolts straight up ?! Add one of those, 2-3" lift, mud plugger tyres and NATO green paint
Sight back, gloat and enjoy cool retro off roader

On the road, limited leg room, bouncy ride and very slow, better than an SJ not as good a Vitara.
Off the road, limited leg room, bouncy ride, very slow (who cares?) similar to an SJ but wider which can occasionally make a difference, better than a Vitara off road.
Suzukis are easier to get parts for to improve the offroad ability than the Ladas, personally I think the Ladas look better, but i'm to lanky to be comfy in them while I can fit in the smaller SJ just fine.
Probably not worth much if you sell it as an offroad toy so don't over spend on it, worth more as a workhorse or to a Lada fan so probably best left standard and just tidied up if your in it for the cash.

What about a landie diesel engine or something in to it? surely that would improve the off road abilities, the fuel consumption and everything else about it. i actually like these weirdly enough :L
