Jonny69 is right about alcohol tolerance of beer yeasts, but there's quite a variety. Most will see up to 8 or 9% with no problem, some less (such as 'Windsor') some will do much more. I have had 11% out of a Duvel yeast, and that will go further if pushed, it certainly isn't clean tasting though. My knowledge on it is limited, but as well as the lower tolerance to alcohol, the apparent attenuation is affected by the more complex sugars it has to ferment with beer. Using the examples above, Windsor struggles with the sugars converted when mashing malted barley at higher temperatures, whereas Duvel will eat through everything and leave the final product very dry. Most generic ale yeasts are a strain known as Nottingham which is fairly clean tasting if temperatures are low and has reasonably high attenuation for a beer yeast, but not as high as wine. If you used that with simple sugars, tolerance to alcohol would be the limiting factor

Unladen weight, I believe.
I bought an old trailer tent that I can only presume in its distant past had something of a chequered past.. I made up a plate for it by looking up the weights for that model and bashing out a new chassis number. Correct? Probably not. I bought it in good faith and it's got no real value now so it wasn't really a concern. It's just to satisfy VOSA if I ever get a tug.

Heh, I travel an hour each way for my daily commute I've a Portamig 185 that'll be around £300 (including wire and regulator) and I'm in Somerset. No worries, it sounds like it's over budget and too far to travel anyway.

That's the other Montana, innit? The Spanish one rather than the German one? There's some great corporate backstabbing story that goes with why the two companies have the same name

Montana also do a 'white' range (Black is NC, gold is acrylic and white is synthetic enamel) and they actually state on their site that it isn't as UV stable as the other ranges. It's a shame- I bought a can in powder blue and it's really nice to use. Wasn't aware the others aren't very UV stable either though. I'd be interested to see a then and now sort of shot of yours, Matt.

In the most literal sense, Area 52 is Bruce's unit. Really though, it is a group of friends, an ever expanding community that is proud of everything that has been achieved in the last 4 years or so. It's hard to know where to start, but it's a meeting of minds, of talent, of vulgar humour, of cool cars and lasting friendships that extend far beyond a shared interest in old chod... I don't visit as much as I used to due to other commitments, but I'm incredibly proud to be part of it.

So how does the Golf bodied Beetle we all saw at the weekend make itself legal? Beetle floorpan = chassis = rebody = no IVA Yeah, because a Beetle is separate chassis, the body itself carries zero points in terms of identity. Presumably would be enough original running gear that it got to keep its Beetle identity, hence being on a (IIRC) '71 J reg numberplate. You'd still have to declare the body swap and probably need a brief inspection to confirm identity though.

I've never met you as far as I know, but a community is a community regardless of whether its 'home' is a physical place or online. It just happens that this online community comes together once a year and it brings out the best in all of us. I'm proud to have been able to donate in some small way. Kev being a drunken auctioneer trying to stop his also drunken Mrs Kev from bidding on stuff he already owned was just the icing on the cake!

Clingfilm would probably be a good call as it would keep it warm and moist (fnar!) so soak in better. I doubt pressure on it would be of any benefit though.

AA roadside and relay joint membership for me and my partner. It covers us individually including any car we're travelling in and will recover you to a destination of your choice.
I've only ever had one bad AA guy since 2007 but that didn't come to anything as we fixed the problem in front of him having diagnosed it while he insisted that what we said wasn't the problem.. But as well as that one idiot, I've had probably 10+ positive experiences with AA and people the subcontract to.
I know it's expensive, but they are the only one that gives me absolute peace of mind in knowing that I'm adequately covered.

I don't believe post 1992 cars are allowed in retro parking regardless... There's been common sense discretion applied in previous years, but I imagine that it's easier to say all cars pre 1991 or whatever as it's hard to quantify common sense to the public

You'll be able to go straight into retro parking with that so you'll be part of the show even if not on a club stand
