Being part of a members club with insurance tie-ins helps massively as very often the clubs stipulate that ALL members be able to benefit. When I got my Herald, I was actually quoted by Footman James as if I was a member of the TSSC and told that I should join them in order for them to be able to cover me. I was 18?19? Below the age that FJ would normally cover you on a classic policy anyway EDIT: Insurance is never simple and you will need to actually pick up the phone and speak to brokers to see what they can do. I've no idea why, but so many people ask these questions and have some sort of aversion to actually calling rather than sending an email or asking a load of people their opinion on a forum

When I've had poor results (using the correct ratchet tool), it's been more down to incorrect connector/wire size than anything else

I've used half a tube of denture cleaning tablets to good effect. It was a tip from Mystery Machine Chuck in header tank/rad. Run up to temp. Leave overnight to cool and fizz away deposits. Flush back and forward like you normally would. Refill and doing any bleeding stuff as you normally would.. Minty fresh

It may be the pics.. But the bodywork appears to be mostly filler. I'd be afraid to go near it with a screwdriver ;D EDIT. I've just noticed the chequerplate sills too! Ropey for sure, but a mini van will always be cool

I'd rather 1 valid, constructive comment than 40 "Put a turbo the size of your spare wheel on it cos it'd be teh win'" sort of comments. Based on your posts here and in the tech section about it, I get the impression you don't have much patience for the car, which could lead to a lack of enthusiasm for an alien engine swap pretty quickly. I'm perfectly guilty of this too... Get it running right and move it on

I don't know if It's just me but I don't get this 'potential' thing. Start with a curse word car, modify it, its a modified curse word car. Do what you like to it, I've had first hand experience It's still a PT Loser. You appear to have neglected to ever read the Modus Operandi, specifically points 1 and 2

The certificate has been nothing more than a reciept since we went over to computerisation. Its just that some people didnt seem to realise. Good point. Just that the paper the receipt was printed on before was harder to forge/obtain illegitimately (I'm ignoring RDD and SOC in that statement ;D ) I'll be sticking in the J69, SOC and Bortaf camp on this issue

So the certificate has gone from being a certificate that proves it has a test, to being a receipt that you need to check? This will have no real effect on anyone capable of discussing the subject on an internet forum

4x3 3/4", or 4x95.25 in metric.
Not masses of choice. Lots of Triumphs, Rover metros, MGFs, Montegos (possibly), Marinas (also possibly). There's a reasonable amount of period aftermarket stuff about if you keep an eye out though

Oh balls. I totally forgot about that.. I would expect them to be fairly interchangable by using your old mounts and ancillaries but that's just an educated assumption

Ignoring the fact that it blew up afterwards.. I think you should have a read of RobinJI's 1.6td conversionThe process would be the same for a 1.9 AAZ from a Mk3 golf or Mk3/4 Passat. The AAZ is a 1.9td with no nasty electronics to worry about. Only 75bhp but easily pump tunable. I get 50mpg on a standard high mile one in a B4 Passat. Veg friendly too.

Why's there a rush? Let nature take its course and have lots of stuff on at once so you don't get impatient. My house is typically around 20 degrees, sometimes tad lower and that's fine. The reason I had such quick results before was because I was brewing in my attic, in summer. It was very warm.. It worked and it was quick, but it isn't ideal.

Not overly keen on it as is but having sold my mk1 Polo yesterday I'm still hurting a bit sad times. Boo hoo, sad news indeed. On a lighter note did I see you round the back streets from Blendon in a e36ish bimmer? Liking the beetlo, the biggerer beetle wheels help with the silly low look. Is floor pan changing not considered cutting of mono cock? Not if you're using the separate chassis and running gear of a beetle. It's a rebodied beetle, not a re-floorpanned Polo. By VOSA's rules, there are zero 'points' of a Polo in that

The recipe looks fine. I'd recommend using the equivalent weight of white sugar instead of honey for your first attempt though. Only because sugar is cheaper. If the cider is flat then you can use any bottle you like. I usually rack it into a second demijohn because it's a lot easier than trying to go straight into bottles. You can shake all the fizz out of it which will get rid of the 'home brew' taste and make the yeast settle faster. Then bottle it once it has cleared. It won't stay cloudy unless you use cloudy apple juice. It's pectin that causes cloudiness in a finished brew, not yeast. If you start with clear apple juice and just leave it, it will completely clear by itself. On your timescales; mine are currently taking about 3-4 weeks to brew out because it's not as warm any more. Just wait until there is no movement in the airlock, then wait another week, then rack it. Shake all the fizz out and either just leave it until it's completely clear which will take a few weeks, or add half a campden tablet and half a teaspoon of potassium sorbate and it will clear within about a week. Then bottle it or drink it straight from the demi I concur with this advice If you've used campden and potassium sorbate then there should be no further activity, meaning it's safe in normal wine bottles. Everything I'm doing is taking much longer now. stuff that I could get from a carton of juice to cleared and ready to bottle in 10-12 days is taking 3 or 4 weeks now. Bottled my WOW yesterday. It's cleared well (no finings) and when I tasted it, I was pleasantly surprsed to find a wine that tastes like wine ;D It has a harshness on the throat that I assume will mellow with a few weeks aging. Whatever I put on next, I'll take pics. I'd be interested to know what bad habits I've picked up and need to rectify now I've got the hang of the basic principles
