Woz on? I needed a 4x4 for the winter and camping duties so bought a Delica from Gazwad on here, but we kind of need a tractor too for where we live so I've just bought this. It's a 1949 Massey and I'm getting down with the straw sucking as we speak... Question is, it's MOT and Tax exempt and I want to drive it home, but there's a well built 11ftx6ft trailer with it that I'd like to tow at the same time. My license covers it, so if I get an insurance doc and a tax disc sorted I can just jump on and get home, right? My main concern is it has no lights at the back, so a trailer board is useless aside from having a plate on it. I was thinking a couple of warning triangles should do the trick? It's a 27 mile drive so I'd like to get it right. So if anybody knows the legalities of this situation that would be a big help.

Wear your flat cap and the oldest tweed jacket you can find then just go for it. ;D Seriously though, if you can get insurance you will be legal during daylight hours so set off just after dawn for a 27 mile drive this time of year

Can't help on the legal situation, but ONLY YOU could do something like this. I can just picture it now. 27 miles will be an epic roadtrip on that. Nice one Dude. ;D
I want to be there on camera duties as you drive the thing back.

Excellent work Bryn, what's the top speed? You might be able to do the journey in a day if you are really lucky Depends on the roads but 27 miles is a fair whack in a tractor imo pics and story required after!!

Haha, just the replies I'd expect and hope for, from just the people I'd expect and hope for too! ;D Having piloted too many old cronks back from places I should have left them around the world, picking this up from the same county should be a breeze... I'll dig out the flying goggles for added style and document the journey Dawn start it is then! ;D

The first thing I ever drove on a road was a Fordson Super Dexta, just outside Taunton... So I'm more than qualified

I'm seeing red wheels and whitewalls by Dulux. Can you chop those front swivel links/axle ends down a bit to get some nice rake going on?
;D

Tyre stencils would be cool... Going back to my intro, I think 'WOZ ON' in Rauw Welt style would be cool.

About 12 to 15 mph top speed if its set up right - unless you put a string onto the guvenor arm should do it in 3 hours easy. Is it petrol or TVO?

I think there is a max legal limit for tax / mot exempt agricultrial vehicles from the registered address of something like 6 miles. Can't find any confirmation though other than no mileage restriction as long as carrying out business connected with agricultrual. This is the law which tractor drivers get vehicles impounded when caught using them for none agricultrial purposes. Best double check before venturing 27 miles ?
