Haha, just the replies I'd expect and hope for, from just the people I'd expect and hope for too! ;D Having piloted too many old cronks back from places I should have left them around the world, picking this up from the same county should be a breeze... I'll dig out the flying goggles for added style and document the journey Dawn start it is then! ;D I'd dig out a good cushion too. I used to get to have a go on one with a low exhaust like that up and down a friend's apple orchard.

I think there is a max legal limit for tax / mot exempt agricultrial vehicles from the registered address of something like 6 miles. Can't find any confirmation though other than no mileage restriction as long as carrying out business connected with agricultrual. This is the law which tractor drivers get vehicles impounded when caught using them for none agricultrial purposes. Best double check before venturing 27 miles ? paul H that applies for running on cherry to stop people using fast track jcb's as little lorries. There's no duty paid alternative to Tvo

Best double check before venturing 27 miles ? paul H That ruling in the RTA is to allow tractors to go down the road to the next field or FLT's to cross the road to the other factory. I've always understood it to apply when they're not registered at all, whereas clearly this one is. A nose through the RTA tomorrow is in order methinks. Bryn - I'm an insurance broker in Bridgwater so I've got a few good markets for tractors. Got all the carnival clubs asking for quotes this time of year so yours will look quite sensible in amongst that lot! I'll PM you in case you want to give me a bell tomorrow.

Yup, low (I thought it was 3 miles) mileage rules is for Ribena. A good mate of mine is a farmer and does contract work so is always uppity - as he regularly does 40 mile jaunts across Shropshire in his Faun. After all, wreckers are classed as tractors, and you can do as many miles as you want in them. Anyway, that looks like RAF colours. Another mate of mine has one of those in the same colour but confuses the classic tractor fraternity as it is a year early(1946?) and diesel - turns out it was one of 3 testers for the RAF.
And that exhaust is a fail. Needs to be vertical with an HP bean tin cover.

Yes there is it's called Petrol. All TVO tractors start on Petrol from cold and change over when warmed up. Hence the heat cover over the carb to keep heat in and help TVO vaporisation.
Getting caught running on TVO or mix is going to get you in the same trouble as using Red in a diesel motor, quite a few have been dipped and done at classic tractor rallies and road runs.
Good luck with the 27 miles, my Uncle did something similar when collecting his TEA20 down Cornwall a good few years ago, not with a trailer though.

Thanks for all the advice and links guys, I knew the RR skillset would have it covered one way or the other ie. I might be able to drive it back, if I do I may as well fit a V8 and, and... ;D Seriously those videos are fantastic, this is going to be a working tractor though, so no mods... Although I should have known DP would be in there somewhere with the inspiration I read that link Twigzy, then linked to another... Found this. Movement of machinery¡Travel to and from a place where the vehicle is to be used or has been used s... BLah, blah, yackety schmackety... Ah, this is what I need. ¡Delivery or collection of an agricultural vehicle used solely for agricultural, horticultural, or forestry purposes that has been bought, sold or hired. Movement of machinery by dealers and others not engaged in agriculture, horticulture or forestry is not covered by this agreement. So, having looked at the requirements of what they term an 'agricultural vehicle', I can confirm it is in relation to my intended usage. I also found this which as I make it out says any disagreement would be settled in court. 'The purpose of this Memorandum of Agreement is to provide guidance to those engaged in agriculture, horticulture and forestry, and to agencies enforcing compliance with the legislation. Where disputes arise these will continue to be considered on an individual basis with regard to the relevant legislation and any definitive interpretation of the law would remain to be given by the courts.' Which as I understand it means I can drive it home having just bought it, okay it may be further than usual for a vehicle of its type, but legal ;D If anybody is bored enough, this is where I got the info from. I may call Vosa anyway... customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWebApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pageExcise_ShowContent&id=HMCE_CL_000164&propertyType=document#P312_31283
