Seeing as this is RETRO RIDES and not Pistonheads, I can only suggest something older. An S1 XJ6 is the best looking Jag behind the E Type for me. Your dilemma isn't for this board.....;-) I seemed to have rattled someones cage. Yes this is retro-rides, but that does not dictate what age car I have to buy.. I have seen cars on here, with a fan club that is a dam sight newer in design! I already own a series one, I can not afford an e-type.. I don't understand why people do this, I offer up two cars that I'm thinking of buying and they say.. "how about you buy something smaller, more expensive and less reliable?" You must understand that the two motors I am asking about are there for a reason, that being I need a big car! At least other people offering up other suggestions are sticking to the same style, LARGE saloons......... Rant over! Anyway, I would like to thank you all for your contribution, how ever, change in finances etc, I will now have to buy a big diesel.. thinking along the lines of an audi A4 Quattro Avant.. hit it with the RR stick, drop 50 mm (at least) out of the ride height and get a lovely re-map You've not rattled my cage fella, hence the smiley at the end of my post. Sorry for winding you up.

Holy Thread Resurrection with a pic from another thread today - Although I am being very generous, it is uglier than ugly and to me, not very cool, but anyway, it would still be quick enough to drive away from laughing bystanders........

Nice project, great potential. I think that definitely qualifies as Front mid engined!

Awesome little car mate, bet it is great fun. I was just wondering about your bonnet raising. If you have found it to be effective you can ignore this thought, but you may find that you will actually be directing air into the engine bay, rather than letting it escape. It is likely that the base of the screen is a high pressure area, and the air under the bonnet maybe under a lower pressure so therefore won't escape. At a stand still, obviously this won't apply but at speed it may actually be counter productive. Not trying to be a smart , just thought you may want to experiment with it up and down now you have the cooler fitted.

Dunno, but this does make me wonder about my recent problem with my bonnet. It is a fibreglass skeleton frame with carbon skin, and was very ripply. Filler used to reduce the ripples and now, less than 12 months later I have a split in the paint caused by a split in the filler. No idea if it was flexing or heat but it may be worth bearing in mind.

TBH, No. Shame, but No. I am a bit of a Magazine fan, and have subscriptions to Retro Cars as well as Evo and Octane. It feels a bit greedy. The thing is, this place is more interesting, knowledgeable, diverse and inspiring than any mag. RR has filled any gap for me.

I'd really like to do something like it. Not sure I understand the price of these, I came across one on car and classic for £800, wheras one sold on ebay for £4000? Doesnt seem to make a lot of sense! I supposed i'd have to watch the sale ads till one comes up at the right price. It's all about the rust.......

That is great! I must admit I have never really gotten on with the Touring lines but for some reason, that one just looks superb!

My dad had one as a company car for 3 years. I'll be kind about it and say it was very roomy and had soft seats. It rolled around corners quite alarmingly but they have a certain charm.

I like it, although I am biased as I own a Clio 182. They are a brilliant drive and I intend to keep mine as long as possible. This sort of look also gives me faith that they have all sorts of scope. Inferno Orange for even more win though I say!

Why do I want an Orange E21 so much when I already have an orange 2 door Toledo that is a very similar car in many ways? It would be so pointless but I still have a stupid yearning......

Wow, missed this. Lovely car and I really love the steels on it. I personally think the lines of the car are shown off better without the roof rack but you are not me. Look forward to seeing this one progress.....

Big fan of the E21 these days. That one though, just low for low sakes, I don't get it, we have some on here that show how a good stance on an E21 should be.
