Anyone got any pictures of these or austin 1300s and similar with modifications (lowering, new wheels etc)? Looking at vanden plas 1300s, you get a hell of a lot for your money with thick carpets, leather seats, nice wood on the dash etc and they are screaming for a hit of the stick and some nice wheels. Also, I like the idea of one because of its A series engine, so I can just drop a load of mini tuning parts on there and have it go like stink. Some seem to be nicely priced, others a complete ripoff, so i'd have to hold out for a nicely priced one. Anyway, I'm waffling, what've you got in your picture stores? Ive found this: ![](http://i436.photobucket.com/albums/qq83/MarkoMagic808/Retro%20rides/Slammdidleyammed.jpg) I'm sure ive got bigger pictures saved somewhere but ive got 5000 pictures saved on my computer so I cant find them as of yet. I know its an austin 1300 but they're almost the same car Proof theres something to be done at least What you got?

I'd really like to do something like it.
Not sure i understand the price of these, i came across one on car and classic for £800, wheras one sold on ebay for £4000?
Doesnt seem to make a lot of sense!
I supposed i'd have to watch the sale ads till one comes up at the right price.

There's issues with the very high offset as stock, meaning anything even slightly dishy is way out of the arches. There was talk on here a while ago of using mini subframes, reducing the track and making wide wheels a possibility.

Ive found this: ![](http://i436.photobucket.com/albums/qq83/MarkoMagic808/Retro%20rides/Slammdidleyammed.jpg) THAT needs to be done. No dish on them so maybe no need for track width faffing?

I love ADO16s, wish I had kept my grandparents one, it was almost immaculate although it had had a colour change in the past!!
I say go on and do it, and the vanden plas version is so plush, almost like a small jag!

I have always thought the ADO16 loks like a small TR6 from the front. But that could just be me. ;D

A digital manipulation I did a while ago. ![](http://i845.photobucket.com/albums/ab16/volksangyl/Photochops/Austin1100custom.jpg) But it's not a patch on that black and red one, I didn't even know it was a chop and I'm still struggling to see the edge of the pixels so I'm going to pretend it's real.

Don't these have hydrolastic suspension like the other ADO16's?, Wouldn't that cause a few problems when it comes to (Properly) lowering one?.
Also I believe that the floor in these is part of the chassis hence why a rotten one is bad news.

Also I believe that the floor in these is part of the chassis hence why a rotten one is bad news. Yes, they have Hydrolastic suspension. Construction is same as the Mini - an all in one body unit including the floor with a subframe at the back for the rear wheels and suspension and a seperate subframe at the front for the engine, gearbox, wheels etc (car FWD of course). As far as rust goes these cars can be very bad news - the subframes, especially at the rear rot badly. However these can be replaced quite easily. Real problems occur when the subframe mounting points on the body rot away as there's then nothing to hold the subframe to the car - I had a Riley badged version some years ago and it was so rusty at the back that I lived in constant fear of driving off and leavng the rear subframe behind. . . Oh, and the sills, floorpan, inner wings and valances all suffer from tinworm.
