Magazines need to come up with labels for stuff, styles, etc. because they can tell you its the hottest thing, then they can tell you its over, and then its passe. However those of us who modify cars do tend to move en masse in fads though so lets not blame them too much. And forums are coming up with their own fair share of fad names (hella flush anyone?) Fast Car Magazine seem to be the kings of labelling and making their declarations. The latest "new style" is "Grid Look" I'll let Fast Car tell you all about itOK,there's nothing new under the sun, You can argue people have been building cars this way for decades. But I like it. I like the modern take on the old road racer style, its consciously styled rather than pure form follow function, and the same treatment would look nuts applied to an older car. I'd like to clone that Clio on a late 1970s Camaro... Who's going to be first to apply the sticker...

lower than a real track car, colour code, bright primary colours, etc
some "touches" to make it a "look"

I like Fast Car, and it's improved loads in the last year or so. The standard of feature cars is good and they tend to have a lot more of "our" type of thing. Getting people away from the lexus lights and halfords tat can only be a good thing, no matter what the new trend is called - I think Grid Look works well.

I saw that fast car ion the shop the other morning. The thoughts "Cor! I rather like that clio, grid look... thats a nice catchy name for something not very new. That sticker is a bit twatty" Passed through my mind in quick succession. Then I went and paid for my teabags milk and sugar.

Nice, I like that 'look' whatever it's called. If more appear like this then that's just fine by me.

Does look nice.
Only complaint from me is that I don't see the point in stripped out track cars that then compromise handling with wheels that don't (technically) fit and a ride-height that allows no travel. Aesthetically it does look nice though, just think it could look equally good, and make more sense without a lot of the 'racing' mods.

more of a track look than a grid look for me. if it was a car on a grid, Id be expecting is to be covered with sponsorship logos.

That looks good ;D fook did i really say that What ever the name a clean well thought out car with mods that compliment each other rather than vying for "top mod on the car" works on any car, allways has allways will.

If this 'new look' results in more clean, sharp looking cars like that Clio above then I'm more than happy for them to call it whatever they want, as long as they keep pushing this kind of thing rather than the chavvy tat they preferred in the past.
I wonder if the 'Grid Look' has anything to do with the fact the car is riding on Rota Grid's? (Grid Drifts to be precise)
Whatever the name, new style or rebranding of an old, I like it a lot.

(Grid Drifts to be precise) That's actually what I'd assumed it meant, didn't even think of a track 'grid' haha. I think we need to see more than 1 car of this style to decide what it is, plus if they look like that Clio I'd quite like to see them anyway ;D

The automotive equivalent of an athletes outfit and Adidas 35th Anniversary Superstar trainers. The emperorers new clothes, for sheep unable to think for themselves. Looks nice though. ;D

I like it! Its sort of drift look (proper drift look, not 'beat my car up and fit too wide wheels') applied to a FWD car. I've seen a few Mk5 Fezzas in a similar theme

I've seen a few Mk5 Fezzas in a similar theme Funny you should mention that. As soon as I saw pics of the Clio above I immediately thought of a brilliant white Mk5 Fiesta which I sometimes see around Bristol. Very low with very wide black steels, very clean looking and a real 'stand out' car. It just looks 'so right'. I mentioned it to Rich in passing one day and when he saw it sometime later, he rang me saying he could see exactly what I meant when I said I thought I'd never, ever, like a modern Fiesta until I saw that one. I look forward to seeing more cars like it.

So its stanced? but Euro, as it has not proper way of getting proper camber, so it needs its own label. I like it but its the same as the 'SCENE' Golf of a year or so back.

Some days you just need to take a grinder to an inanimate object, just to make your day a tiny bit better!!
