Someone who knows a lot about registrations has said you should have no issue getting the logbook for yours, so persevere. Sounds good for me, as my shabby wreck would probably double in value. Pretty abysmal for the other person, their very nice buggy would become almost worthless. The only winner would be whoever did the cloning. Seems unusual to leave the donor intact still with its vin Ttfn Glenn

Not really, the only other thing tying the vin and chassis ages together is the chassis having pin and link suspension Ttfn Glenn

I don't have the scuttle tag Just the vin on the floorpan, this buggy was built originally in 1972 from a pre 60 beetle Ttfn Glenn

Just as the world changed, I bought a spares or repairs project, heavily modified with an iffy provenance. Once home with it, I started cleaning and fiddling. Under layers of grime and paint i found the vin number Since it was vw based, a search online showed it to be based on a 58/59 beetle Next search was isitnicked.com which showed not stolen and registered as a beach buggy in 1972 Tried a couple of vin to reg services on eBay with no luck so gave up searching Couple of days ago tried using a search service on Facebook, result, 5 pounds and 10 minute later Full registration, date of registration, currently sorn, the full run down Now the bad bit An image search for the registration brings up a picture of a beach buggy a Very different beach buggy With the help of the buggy forum the owner of that buggy has been contacted and am waiting for results Does anyone have any experience of a similar situation Ps my vin is clear, undamaged and with additional vw identifications Ttfn Glenn Have had to be a bit vague on some details to protect the innocent

Starchem synstrip Large bucket of elbow grease aided by roloc disks in a 90 die grinder Paint Lacquer Relax
Any damage is easily repaired If you fancy a colour change you have only lost the cost of the paint Do different wheels in different colour and sit them on truck before deciding final choice Ttfn Glenn

Thought using crushed walnut shell was the go to for blasting engines and gearboxes, any left behind will be eaten by the engine Ttfn Glenn

I fancied doing american style indicators and sidelight on my t4 but decided to fit clear indicators with switchback leds. Show white sidelight, which switches off when indicating, which flashes orange, then goes back to white once indicator is cancelled Ttfn Glenn

I would suggest starting by trying to reduce draughts and possibly insulating your garage. If you use a 2000w heater that will leave sufficient capacity for most power tools, Ttfn Glenn

Might be me being petty or missing the point, it reads to me that the headlight must not be converted to fit hid or led, I have led bulbs fitted to my totally unmodified light units, so does that mean, provided the beam pattern is ok, then they shouldn't fail the mot, Ttfn Glenn

It's a 99t, when first launched was intended to be the sports beast but rapidly overtaken by other models so became more of a sports tourer Ttfn Glenn

1980 zx9r? Can't believe they binned the drill! Can't you just swap in a single phase motor? Yes that is a t reg zx9r, belongs to a friend, will be delivering it to him in May when I go to a wedding down south. Currently a non runner due to a ignition/wiring fault, previous owner butchered the loom Could fit a single phase motor, but am in the process of running a 3 phase line to my bit of the shed, have a 2 post lift to install, once I finish replacing the lift nuts (another stalled project) Ttfn Glenn

A few more of my side projects A pillar drill that was getting thrown out at work, cleaned and painted, Just need to sort the 3 phase supply to run it, leant against it is a 500 kawasaki engine that may be going into a buggy Space heater, was given this as it would not run properly, I had to free up the carbon vacuum pump, changed the fuel filter and adjusted the spark plug, still need to clean out the fuel tank, but that's a job for another day And yes I do need to tidy up Ttfn Glenn

Yet again got distracted by a motorcycle project, and it's not even mine. A good friend was looking for a project, and this popped up on marketplace near me, again the caddy was called into play to collect it. When normality returns I will have a little jolly out to deliver it. Scotland to Somerset It's a 1980 kawasaki zx9r, bit of a beast with 140 bhp Ttfn Glenn
