Its just wibblepoo engineering. Putting cast parts of dubious quality in bending.. 1 in a million will fail under normal use but it's going to be a catastrophic failure when it does and make the news.
That said I've got two sets and use them occasionally. Would never buy a set tho.

Easy. Unplug alternator and put the meter across the gap (in current mode with leads in correct connections on the meter). If you see any current replace it.

would something heavy being lightened reach a point where suspension would need to be softened and tyres narrowed to increase grip? In theory the former could become the case. The lighter the car the lighter the spring rate needed. However most cars are so softly sprung to start with in reality you would probably only reach that situation in some kind of off road rallying discipline where you need a far softer setup than road use. Narrower tyres would only apply if that car was unable to work them hard enough to get tyre temperature. At the end of the day lighter is better. The idea that you need weight to 'push the tyres into the road' is completely. flawed at the level of fundamental physics. In a straight line you loose due to the extra energy needed to accelerate it and round a corner the laws of inertia will beat you.

Humm I actually have the ctronics camera linked above but I couldnt get on with the software. Was like somthing a chinaman had designed in his lunch break.. il have another look tho.
Probably doesnt help that I don't have a landline connection in the workshop and my networking abilities are not great! Adds many complications.

My problem isnt the cameras its finding decent software. I've ended up with a few different camera setups but the software always sucks ass!
Want somthing that will do motion detection and send me an alarm through a phone app really. Preferably somthing I cant mute either!

That's the idea. It's down to you to interpret and declare. It's not tax fraud, it only effects the MOT, hence why they don't care. They don't really even care about MOTs on normal cars. What really matters (legally and otherwise) is if your car is road worthy or not.

I have a few like that I thought might be worth a few quid but stuck them on ebay for a £5 and nothing.. collectors must be after fairly specific ones.

No they all rust the same. There are (relatively) alot of clean examples around tho. I think they were popular with old ladies that had them garaged all thier life and never really used them. They are so dirt cheap still theres not much point in buying one with any more than minor rust but you want to factor in a bit of time to clean up and rust proof at the very least.
Nothing much else to worry about in the grand scheme of things.

Top marks from me. Opportunity to get the car out and use it on both days was spot on. Shelsey was great the first few years but I found it had become a bit stale and the hill climb was a bit restrictive on what you could run. The regular change of venue was a big part of what made RRG special in the early days. I understand it's probably not viable to change every year but its ciritanly not a negative when it does!
Thought the quick60 was great. A good mix of cars and friendly no hassle atmosphere. I think the class system is a bit weird. don't really see the point in splitting pre and post 98 cars yet not splitting NA 1400cc from 2L turbos. If it was me I'd be using a points system.
1 point for running slicks 1 point for running turbo/supercharged 1 point for over 1400cc 1 point for over 2L 1 point for aero maybe
Bottom class has 0 points top class has 5
You should still end up with 5 or 6 classes but they would more reflect the cars pace potential and attract a few more entries from the smaller engined mod-prod side of things who i think would be put off a little bit with the prospect of only getting 2 competitive runs.
Sunday track time was a step in the right direction allowing overtaking too. I would be a supporter of moving it more toward a a track day format than a sprint. I got 4 runs and could have had 5 but would be more in favour of 2 runs of 4 laps than 5 runs of 2 and surely it would run smoother and waste less time between runs?
Both venues are a bit close to home for me to bother camping yet always feel like I'm missing out not doing the full weekend.

Always seems a waste of time using original ecus. If it's an ecu engine as standard then all you usually need a is a aftermarket ecu wired up to it and a day on the dyno. Original ecu limits you to standard engine. Even putting different exhaust on will throw it out.

I've had several 806s over the last few years. Best vehicles I've ever owned. Practical as it gets, seats in for people, seats out for stuff. Can tow a small car ok.
Downsides are, the XUD ones (which are really the only ones financially viable) have become super scarce. Most that come up have issues and they are a bit of a pain to work on.. (although you could say that about most fwd moderns I guess!)

Tuffnells will be the answer to that. They do bulky items no one else will take. Try putting the details in on interparcel or something.

As easy as it gets really. Slab, bit of brickwork, timber roof and you would probably want to get the whole roof refelted (or modern equivilent). don't think building gets much simpler.
