forgive me, am not sure if that topic makes sense.
the Mrs Pug 308HDi, a long while ago the starter was slow to start the engine, it just "just about" get it started, battery seemed ok, car was charging in use, but as changing the starter is tricky, we first opted for a brand new battery, mainly to rule that part out.
new battery didnt make a whole lot of difference, although the new "correct" one was larger in size and amps than what was in the car when we got it.
after a while, and a couple on none starts, we bought a new starter and a mech friend fitted it for us, it was then starting instantly and easily.
mrs doesnt use the car as much, if its left for a few days, the battery goes flat, we recently drove from manchester to birmingham airport, left the car there for 10 days when we went on hols, but on return there wasnt even enough power to put the window down never mind try to start.
car park got us going with a booster pack.
now, the engine when we got the car had a bad oil leak on the top, oil is all down inside the alternator, and while it does charge like its supposed to, I am wondering if the alternator is causing the loss of power in the battery when parked for a few days, is that even feasable?
so I have a normal multimeter, can somebody explain to me a simple way to test the alternator when engine isnt running?
car is standard, original radio, no lights left on, all wiring looks to be in good order in the 'bay. The battery is now the correct one and was bought from Tayna.
