Just a quick one to say thanks to all the people that made RRG happen. That is easily the best venue I've ever seen for a car show, and the Quick 60 action and the Sunday track time was brilliant, so brilliant infact that trying to find the motivation to leave the campsite and go to see the show was quite difficult. Apart from the toilets been rubbish (not caused by visitors, they had the pissest weak flush I've ever seen so were gonna be trouble from the start) it was absolutely epic. This photo out of the door of my tent looks great on my phone but might be rubbish, I'm sure people will post good ones.

Yep, best one yet. Few issues, which will always be the case. Camping bit cramped, felt like info for the event was a bit thin. But being able to get out of the tent, sit on your bum for a while and then cook breakfast at 11am whilst still being in the show and watching the action was absolutely fantastic.

My 11th Gathering and the best yet tbh, I love Mallory and it’s only 10 miles from my house so I could go home Saturday morning for a shower and a s@#t 😂🥳 Seriously though a great weekend and it will take some topping.

Are pictures forbidden this time or was taking pictures forbidden?
Usually there are at least five threads with gathering pics within the next 24 hours?

Are pictures forbidden this time or was taking pictures forbidden? Usually there are at least five threads with gathering pics within the next 24 hours? I think everyone stayed a lot longer this year than previous, so they are still recovering and getting photos ready to post. I know that I stayed as late as I could whilst still leaving decent time to drive 3hrs home. I will be updating the Celica thread tomorrow I think 🙂

Are pictures forbidden this time or was taking pictures forbidden? Usually there are at least five threads with gathering pics within the next 24 hours? The vibe was a lot different this year, partially becuase do the new venue and partially becuase of what’s happened over the past few years. People stayed longer on Sunday, in fact because of the impromptu bank holiday some are still there. It was much more chilled whilst also being more drunken,, so there was less people hiding behind a camera all day. I expect they’ll start coming through later on today as everybody has a day off but is avoiding anything to do with the reason for it.

Totally agree with the above, I love mallory (helps that it's half an hour away from my house) and it was as well organised as ever. Thanks to all that organise, help out, to the Marshalls (track and car parking) for making it all happen. There's always such a great eclectic mix of stuff, more so then any other meet in the year. I've got a handful of low quality mobile phone photos that I'll get put up later on.

As above, thanks for another brilliant event! Are pictures forbidden this time or was taking pictures forbidden? Usually there are at least five threads with gathering pics within the next 24 hours? No, but collectively everyone there decided to live in the moment, you should have seen it, there wasn’t a smart phone in sight!! I didn’t take many photos, the lens on my phone is scratched so the effect is similar to taking photos on a potato, whilst this is undoubtedly retro it’s not a great experience That, coupled with wandering around with Darren who had a proper camera and does car photo things. Friday night was cold, after the summer we’ve had I was catch you out cold, that coupled with having a child who can drink, and being old enough for prostrate checks… means having consumed beer I need to get rid of it, not wanting to get up because it’s cold means lying in my sleeping bag wishing for an en-suite! This was repeated again on Saturday night (they say you can’t teach a old dog new tricks!) Anyway, the weather, my bladder, my consumption of alcohol, and my decision to spawn a child all those years ago are in no way the responsibility of the gathering…. But I did come home tired! Undoubtedly less tired than those who spent months planning, then weeks organising and finally days and hours problem solving and ensuring it was an event that surpassed previous events. I was worried that some of the magic of the Gathering was due to Shelsley Walsh, bit though different was equally compelling. The quick 60 on Saturday we watched from the chicane on the back straight, we spent all day in one location and could see about 80% of the track. The racing was captivating and was absolutely enough. The tat auction was as ever hilarious, there was a band booked to play, it must have been strange for them to watch idiots bidding on junk in the cold whilst they waited for an audience to play to. Sundays show was possibly only lacking the vista from up the hill of the static show, the show itself felt more accessible as everything was closer. I don’t think it’s fair to compare, as it would be like comparing apples to oranges, but was a brilliant event, and again thanks to those who made it happen. But you’ll have to just take my word for that as I didn’t take any photos

That, coupled with wandering around with Darren who had a proper camera and does car photo things. I took nearly 700 photos, but now I have to OCD-label them all and process them etc... Hopefully I'll start getting them up in a day or so!

So reading this the general consensus is I’m possibly ignorant for taking pics and sharing them with people who couldn’t or went to other events as I did……very strange indeed At most of RR events I upload all day for those not attending to share the experience Looking forward to seeing some pics

People stayed longer on Sunday, in fact because of the impromptu bank holiday some are still there. Should like to point out that only show staff/cleanup team were allowed to stay on the Sunday evening. Was a great vibe, really enjoyed the new venue, I’ve already done my best to thank those in question in person but in case, thanks all who make this work. Was a good year.

Had a very pleasant Sunday afternoon wandering round, certainly inspired me to try and bring something along to show next year as it's a bit more local to me than the other events..... Thanks to all involved

Can only echo the thanks to all those involved with organising the show, was only there for the Sunday but had a great time 😊
Typical RR eclectic mix of just about everything you could want to see, and the track sprints were very entertaining, seeing a couple of drivers overcook it at the chicane 😂

TBH, I think there may have been more proper cameras and less smartphones I think, certainly amongst the campers? J

I'd like to echo the thanks to all involved. As always I had an excellent time and the quality and variety of cars there was at an all time high. We took a mate along who's only a young lad and not been to a big show before and he was absolutely blown away.
I wasn't sure what to expect with the return to Mallory Park. It was brilliant being able to camp right on track side. We sat on Saturday morning having our coffee and breakfast and watching the Quick 60 which was ace! The toilets were also much better this year, with them actually still being usable on the Sunday morning. I also liked the layout of the show field, much less walking up and down a massive hill. Also the food cart selection was brilliant. I had Curry Goat for lunch on Sunday which was flipping lovely.
Now for some downsides. I don't know if it was because of how good last year was coming out the other side of the Pandemic etc, but this year the vibe just didn't feel as good. I know that's a very vague thing to say. I'm not sure if the camping had also had something to do with that. As brilliant as camping trackside was, it did by its nature make the campsite spread out, which I think kinda changed the campsite dynamic. Made it less easy to wander around and just chat to people. I don't really know which is better to be honest, which isn't very helpful really.
The security I thought were great, friendly and decent, however there just wasn't enough of them. I was talking to one of the Security lads who had worked 20hrs out of 24, they were having to grab sleep when they could as only one watch had apparently been paid for. This also led to an issue that when trying to drive from campsite to the show field you had to navigate through a queue for the coffee cart, because there was no-one to Marshall the crowd.
Just little things, but maybe stuff that could be addressed for next year, which I'll definitely be at, because I love RRG!
Tom

I think the campsite thing might have something to do with it been cold maybe, as I've literally never seen everybody as absolutely hammered as we all were, along with trying to stay near enough to a fire to keep warm.
