Having looked at this, I'm seeing a big gap/opportunity in their thinking. It is possible to build a car which doesn't fit the FIVA definition, but is modified within the '8-point' parameters. e.g. A mk1 Cortina with coilovers up front and Capri single leafs out back (bolt-on swap) and a set of rims falls outside the FIVA definition, but if it retains the stock engine & box is still considered to be a mk1 Cortina in DVLA/VOSA's eyes. Perhaps we need a separate category for cars that fall between these definitions? If we propose that these cars pay road tax according to the engine size (as per 1973-2001 cars), then this might be 'sellable' to the government, and possibly the EU parliament? That way, we get to use our cars, and the governments of Europe gain some extra revenue to reduce their budget deficits. Win-win in my opinion.

So according to this, if you change the wheels as well as the engine & box you lose historic status?

I find it incredible that some people manage to make filler self-supporting! Still, at least it's getting done properly this time. Stick at it, Amazons rule.

I'm sure I read that the 1800 flywheel is lighter than the 2 litre one. Could it be possible that the 2 litre one acts as a damper/balancer of some sort?

I'm wondering if changing the body type to 'car-derived pickup' would be a way around the confusion.

I had this problem on my Octavia. turned out to be knackered struts. They were producing too much negative camber (excess tuck?) which was causing the inner joint to fail.

Just wondering what happens if your car has been off the road since before SORN was introduced?

I thought that the emissions part of the MOT was related to the age of the engine and/or vehicle (whichever the older) is this still the case? Also, this could have implications for engine transplants. If the powers that be decide that fitting a larger engine causes more damage to the environment, then this puts a question mark over lots of cars.

if you want a manufacturer colour how to you find the ral number so you can order it from thier range?? ie ford monza/electric blue (1970-74) This place will mix up any colour you want, presumably you'd need the paint code though. www.tools-paint.com/

Personally, I'd do it in Candy Pagan Gold with a white tuck'n'roll interior, but that's just me. The proportions are spot on, and I really like the high level brakelight.

So now they'll just buy zoo or nuts. If you don't like a mag, don't buy it. Seems a bit small to be dancing on their grave as.it were. IBTL. Akku, you've hit the nail on the head again. It's highly possible that many of those younger petrol heads may well move on to 'our' type of cars, modified in 'our' way, but now they'll either buy the mainstream mags full of stockers, or move away from car mags altogether. I've never bought or read Max Power (never really appealed to me), but I still think it's sad that it's gone down the tube.
