this is basically a bit of a plug for a mate of mine. hes a silversmith, but not your average silversmith. i don't know any others with a red mohican anyway.
as well as run of the run of the mill jewelery and guff youd expect a silversmith to be able to do, hes rather handy at making cool bits for hot rods out of brass, copper, and other soft metals. hes also makes up the 'stringer fabrication rad modifying department'- which means perfect size radiators with all the inlets, outlets, and caps in exactly the right place, no matter how channeled the car is!
here is his latest accomplishment. i said id post this up for him in attempt to get him more similar work, as he says he finds it far more interesting and enjoyable than his 'usual' work!!
basically hes made me a zetec log manifold entirely in brass to fit the motor in the budget hotrod pickup, from only a couple of photos and some random scribblings.
i originally had budgeted to buy a pepper performance manifold and fit that, but when i enquired about one on ebay, i got a rude email telling me he only deals with people through facebook now and to find him on there. which annoyed me. so i did find him, printed out all the pics of his 'latest model', gave them to choppie, and the result is thus-

and an overall view of it in-situ. the intake system will eventually extend further forward in front of the throttle body, round the front of the engine to meet the MAF and go into an air filter.

quite pleasing to the eye, i think youll agree. function wise, itll operate no differently to a steel or ally one. it just has a finish far more in keeping with the car its fitted to, especially considering the other brass/copper work its having too![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
hes also just finished a header tank for me, thats having a final polish up then ile post pics of that too.
if youre interested in getting anything made for any car in brass, copper, alloy, or even silver or gold, get in touch.
so far for me and my customers hes done rad modifications(core resizing, moving of inlet/outlet/filler cap/ mounts), custom header tanks, this manifold, hes modified, straightened and repaired delicate pressed ally trim including restamping lettering, one off bonnet/rad mascots, gauge refurbishment, repair and modification, made up a one off alloy horn push setup for me, made one off hardlined water and oil pipe systems, and fabricated custom dash trim, plus lots of polishing of alloy and brass items.
his latest endevour I'm quite excited about him finishing, hes making me a custom gearknob for my model A, similar to the original, bakerlite with inlaid brass lettering for the shift pattern. i cant wait til that ones done!!
