Hello, Johnnyizegem from Belgium. Want to share my project and may be if I have a question, I can find an answer here... So, as the title says, a toyota CROWN MS67 wagon. (So that's the 2M, columnshift, low trim level,... version) Here it is when I went to collect it And then the trip home: Home is where my CROWN is People who know CROWNs a little could have already seen that there are some things that don't add up or are missing. It's a 1972, so pre facelift, although the nose is facelift... The front has been replaced at some point with the 73-74 front. Trim around the headlights is missing, some panels like the one between the rear door glass and the booth glass but, although not at all easy, most of the parts I have been able to source. Still missing some stuff like the CROWN badges on the aforementioned panels. I will make a list, you never know somebody can help... Plans are to be able to drive it and some wheels and some lowering at some point but first walk, then run. I'm busy doing electrics, brakes, tyres, exhaust,... and hope to have it on the road this year. More soon! I'm dutch speaking so excuse me if my english is weird from time to time, hope it's readable and understandable...

What a nice project, and a rare sight on UK roads.
Are you modifying or restoring?

What a nice project, and a rare sight on UK roads. Are you modifying or restoring? Well, I would say I am making it mechanically safe and sound for starters. Then drive it, then some mild lowering and wheels, again drive it, then restore the body and you never know modify it aswell, but belgian rules are changing at the moment and I want to be sure I can still have it on the road legally... No worries, I have other projects that will start when the driving it is happening and this would just be updated with some nice on the road pics or maybe lots of troubles and repairs... As for today, I had some time this morning to proceed prepping the original steels for paint.

I am right in thinking the rules are pretty strict in terms of modification in belgium?

b3nsonAt the moment, yes and no. It is so that untill now, if you want(ed) to get you classic on the road, registered as classic, you went to the control station, had a small check for structural soundness, brakes, lights,... the real basics, then you got your plates and you could drive, for the rest of your live if you kept the car, and modify all you want, not that it is necessarily legal, but you already had your control. But now they are talking about control for classics every 3 years, and if you modify every year, but that's just rumours, nothing on paper yet, and we are new to legally modifying, and we are Belgium, so I assume the rules will make no sense so I am waiting for now. As for the car, I got around primering the steels...

Rear brakes were seized, so had to fix that. took the drums off to have a better look tool everything apart as the pistons were seized, had to free them naked had to free the pistons no matter what because I could not get hold of new pistons for CROWN of that era but I found cressida cilinder and piston, only the pistons were different so then I had the choice to go with the cressida ones and put the cleaned up original pistons or go with cilinder and piston (original parts) and just use the rubber parts I had from the cressida ones. Original parts seemed to be usable but I went for the cressida cilinders and pistons, kept the original parts aside. pistons freed all parts somewhat cleaned up and ready to go back on and all back together ready to bleed to be continued

I love old CROWNs, an estate is number 1 but Id settle for a 2.8 Coupe.
Look forward to updates

I am still a little undecided about the mirrors. They are aftermarket ones, and after buying several types I just decided on using these because I liked them the most and was sick of buying and trying... Wheels are for a little later, first I'll run the stock ones
