Despite having a preference for older cars, there are alot of new cars that I do really like aswell. Generally the newer stuff that I admire are those cars which are innovative, push the boundries, and come up with solutions for age-old problems - rather than for generally looking nice, since most modern cars on the road are shapeless 'blobs' However despite the restrictions placed on car stylists/designers - normally in the name of safety - there are some very pretty and smart new cars being manufactured, probably more so now, than for quite some time So purely on appearance, these are some of my favourite cars that have recently been released... Mercedes CLS Peugeot 407 Coupe - looks better in the flesh than in pictures New Audi A6 - not striking, so much as looking damn smart. We all say that cars 'all cars look the same these days' - but when you think of it for a given snippet of time in the past alot of cars looked the same aswell - they just followed the trend of the time the same as they do now. Ok, show us what moderns do you like the 'Looks' of, or perhaps particularly hate. Would be nice to hear your views & opinions on the styling of modern cars.

Don't like many new cars to be honest, but the new Volvo C30 has really caught my eye. Available with the D5 and T5 engines... it's actually a modern car I'd even consider buying... errm.. maybe.. ;D

I agree... and and ...plus all the landcrab variants and badge-engineering that went on back then. Still prefer '70s cars though! ;D I like the Alfa 156. Very pretty

Ooh crikey, dare I post for fear of being labled a dirty confirmist!?!? To quote ReAnimation, I will lay my ball bags on the table. I actually like the Bmw Mini, not as a successor to the original but as a small car. Those I know who've driven the sportier versions have described them as the most fun car they've driven. I think they do have an image problem as they have become associated as a retro status symbol of the fashionable but to me that makes a bastardised one all the more desirable. Another small car I've found myself thinking naughty thoughts about is the Smart Roadster, particulary the Brabus version in black and with the rear hood... of which there just so happens to be one on our car park. I do like the alternative thinking of the roadster and admire it's a car with driving fun in mind, however I would have to drive one to see if that's true. Something I'm not allowed to buy but would love to try is the new MX5. Lets face it, the car is an evolution of the Elan using modern technology. Sadly too many people assume those who drive them are homosexuals. Something I do want is the new Alfa Romeo Brera, I just think they are a stunning looking car. I would imagine if I can ever afford one they'll be retro anyway.

True, they're a right laugh to drive - I drove a Cooper S for a morning and it was a real blast. But it's f*ckin' huge, mind. And I felt like I needed a paper bag over my head as, unfortunately, 99.9934% of MINI owners are c0cks. With the remaining 0.0066%, it's just assumed they are c0cks. I think the new MX-5 is a bit fugly personally, but if it's anything like the old 'un it'll be awesome on the road. Another car that suffers an image problem.

I could live with that, most people look at me and assume I'm a cock anyway. A new Mini would only help them confirm it

I must be the only person in the land who doesn't like the Alfa Brera.
I think it's ugly on a stick and can't decide what it wants to be....

Nothing modern interests me really, except for an 'Over 75 or it's MG equivalent*. Oh, and there's also the previous model Maser QP which I really like (can't stand the current one though). *assuming this Riley enthusiast can ever bring himself to own an MG

I think new American cars are much bolder in their styling, and generally far more interesting looking than timid Euro / J anonyblobs that get turned out. Generally speaking.

I think that but I do sometimes wonder if it's only because we tend to see the more interesting looking cars. I wonder if the Americans think all our cars look exciting?

I liked the older GT / spider thing too. No mucking about with that MoFo. The brera looks like an Audi A3 that has been sat on. Presumably so it sells to dullards who would otherwise buy hi-spec A3's.... Oh and PLEASE! NO MORE SILVER CARS. EVER. T'other day noted in Asda car park that a whole row of cars... were all silver. YAWN.

No you're not the only one - I like the front end treatment but like the 'other' Alfa coupe (is that the new GTV?) It all goes wrong at the back I do still like the 156 however I can simpathise with MWF - the BMW Mini is a good car (if a bit short on space for what is a not very 'Mini' sized car) It would have been better if it didn't have the characature old Mini features and was sold as BMWs 1 series - but I suppose it would never have sold so many without the cutesy link to the older car Another couple of moderns I like the styling of is the Accord when fitted with the Aero pack and the latest Mazda 6

Yeah I'm sick of silver cars. The millennium didn't bring about computerated doom to the developed world, but it did unleash a plague of silver cars. Especially offensive when it's that cheap nasty metallic silver

'Go for silver.. it will hold it's value better' Says yet another n0b-head TV car 'expert'.
So they do.
Like sheep.
I wanna see more green cars. And more brown ones. And more Orange ones. Not enough of those any more.
