New MX5 is basically RX8 under the skin so it drives really well The Alfas drive well too for FWD Modern stuff I like.... Citroen C4 but only in 3dr form and C6 as its a return to loony citroen of old values ;D Renault Vel satis and Avantime....... but then I have always liked 1 box designs like the 1st gen Espace and Twingo That new Connaught is very nice Lambo Gallardo and Murcialago are still brutal looking cars, far less fussy than than the current crop of Supercars ;D Last shape Focus 3 dr, much nicer than the current one BMW Z4 which I hated when it came out and I like teh coupe version as well Audi S4 is typical audi understatement but with a bigger punch BMW E46 M3...... just something very purposeful about it even better in GTR v8 Form ;D New Honda Civic...... Fantastic design and has moved the goalposts for detail on medium hatchbacks Not sure how many of those I would actually be prepared to pay money to own though But that wasnt the question was it ;D

LOL at MWF, (Sssh i half stole that off russel brand, and half off Mr B)! Yeah I like some of the pretty new cars. most I don't think i'd trust or would be able to pay for buying or servicing. Which takes me to that Alfa thing, first one i just saw while this thread kicked off. A bloke flashed me to come through a skinney local road, i gave an over enthusiastic thumbs up cos from the front cos it looks great. Ones I'll never afford the american ones; Dodge Challenger etc and that 300c Chrysler thing is mega but no doubt some big shot nuggets like drug dealers, managers, and fooballers etc will make me go off em. Then onto ones I actually would and poss could own, all with mods like just to get them inline and put my mark on em: MINI on big wide Rewinds Smart Fortwo in crossfire nutty thing Smart roadster Toyotat girly MR2 just cos they are great fun like the mk1 but not as rusty and old, would take some modding though cos i'm not mad on the fake porsche styling! I'll add some more when i get em, theres loads!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

What!!! have a word!
I agree the round grill looks a bit waz, but thats probably wrong anyway. The shape however is freakin ace.
I just hope its not going to be another 'retro' jag whick looks like a mutant XJ/Mk2/whatever.

It's not so much the looks of modern cars i don't like, it's all the pointless electronics and gadetry they have in them and the disposable nature of their engineering and components. Modern stuff is neitrher designed to last nor is it built to be repaired and for that reason I feel no desire to buy anything new. I do like a few of the designs and ideas about. The only modern I wouldn't mind owning, primarily because it's just so daft, is an Avantime. Looks like an MPV but isn't, is pillarless but not a coupe...it defies logic and it's wierdness makes it interesting. I'll have mine in green please... I also quite like the the Citroen C4 two door. It kind of reminds me of the unconventional look that old Citroens like the GS had. The C6 appeals to me for the same reasons and it has some great Citroen styling quirks. Shame C4's seem to only come in boring colours. Bright green or orange would be great on one... The chrysler 300C and Dodge Charger are both pretty cool looking cars and I also like the new Mustang. All are pretty good attempts at making something new with the aura of their predeccesors. i think they achieve this far better than the new Beetle or Mini. The new Mini would have been so much better without it trying to be what it is clearly not. With the daft pretend Mini looks removed and BMW badges applied it'd be far more credible to me. As it is it's no more credible than a Mitsuoka Viewt

I agree with the 300c lovers. I would never own one but I like it a lot. Proof at last that Detroit can produce cars that havent had a generous beating with the ugly stick. What? You think most American cars arent ugly? HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A PONTIAC AZTEC? My nomination is one I'm surprised nobody else has made. The Renault Velsatis. Renault may make dodgy overcomplicated and fragile cars but they style them beautifuly and have consistently shown themselves ready to laugh in the face of convention. Yet another car I probably wouldnt own but one I'll always be happy to look at. My apologies for this image being a little on the large side.

Black VX220 Turbo, that stupid silver V-grille removed, black 'screen surround and black rims. OOOF. Similarly, a 'blackline' version of the below would give me the horn: *n

Say what you like about them being girly, I love the Daihatsu Copen! It just needs to be equipped with all the special optional sports stuff and a nice set of wheels to butch it up (the optional Minilites are nice). I think Daihatsu UK made a good decision (for once) getting them imported. And you can see 150hp from their 3 cyl turbo engine.

euuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrhgggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhggggggggggghhhhhhhh! apart from the 300c, IMO all those pics are rank with a capital R for RETCH! lol on my list to actually get (someday) and bash with the stick are: cadillac cts-V (note V!) new charger hemi 300c perhaps, in black with big green bits i also like the mg they never made, the big coupe with almighty fins on the wings rx8's nice, as is the s2000, and the new mustang and there it ends. ratdat got it in one though, i hate electronic fidgetry and 'the cars can drive better than you can' atitudes, i wanna be able to stuff mine into a wall if i want. what really worries me is overtaking with big speed differences, if i cut out from a car from close distance and the computer brakes to lengthen the distance and then I'm on the other side of the road braking... oh and how could you race or tailgate your mates? huh? HUH? ?
