Hi, I have taken the notion for a cnc router, I love the x carve but the price as a bit step for a “I’ll give it a try” purchase. Does anyone have any experience of any cheaper home cnc machines. I only fancy mapping some shapes out and using it to cut them out (ply) or a bit of engraving. Nothing to heavy or two big. Ta, Chris

Was thinking something a bit thicker... 3 inches possibly. To allow a to sit down into it. Yoga mat could be nice on top for a splash of colour lol.

So it was my birthday over the weekend and ive been going on about new tool boxes for ages... The wife surprised me with some of the big DeWalt TSTAK boxes they are awesome!!! big enough to fit my 3 drills and all there accessories in one box. Id like to line them with some thick foam, with drill shapes (for example) cut out so I can then layer the box to make the most use of the space. A layer would consist of a 4-5mm piece of ply with foam glued to it, so it would be stiff enough to lift, possible with some sort of handle at each side. Does anyone know a cheap way to get the foam? I had originally though house insulation but its all foil backed now and starts at about £30.

I have this, rode it every day for around 4 years and it got mothballed a few months ago when I moved further from the train station, now take a little Corsa B to the station instead. There is a build thread here

Thanks everyone for the responses. Yes its a Metal tank, its a 2 stroke bike, and its self pre-mixing. So basically chuck a bit extra 2 stroke in the tank, fill the tank to the top, drain the carb and call it a day? It'll be dry stored in a garage with a cover over it and it has a center stand so no real weight on the front tyre.

So I have a little Honda Vision, that I rode daily for a few years, I don't want to get rid of it, so I am planning on tucking it away at the back of the unit for a day in the future. What is the best way to prep it for storage, I assume clean it down, make sure there is plenty of air in the tyres... but what about fuel in the tank and carb... drain the carb and top the tank up? empty the tank. I don't plan on riding it again for at least a year or two...any advise is appreciated.

The Ford looks fab without a roof and fenders.

curse word. Cause don't plan on making it a proper convertible... more chipping roof up and welding everything shut, like a metal buggy body made from a Beetle More something like this... or this

And chopping the roof off and welding up the doors posses no issues, as V5 will be changed to convertible. Along with the body drop so it will be accessible without the doors. Similar to a buggy. Thanks all for the replies.

Hi guys,
I am sure similar questions have been asked a million times before but I cant find what i'm looking, my google foo has quit.
If I had a classic beetle, chopped the roof right off and welded the doors shut and body chopped it, obviously with no unsafe sharp edges etc. Temporary mud guards for MOT etc.
Essentially make it a bit like a buggy... what would the implications be legally? Or does it fall under the re-body category of car mods?

Got the towbar fitted, was handy enough to get sorted, took longer removing the bumper and wiring it that drilling the holes and bolting everything in place. Only one broken clip...can live with that.

Well it actually passed!!! The man even commented how good it was underneath. Well chuffed.
No further photos. Have ordered a tow bar and now have to decide...
Plan black or silver steel wheels.
Or paint a terrible but brand new set of Halford wheel trims black.
Either way the wheels need tidied up.

No one has every complained about too much lube...
I was thinking it was the beam bushings. Will see what happens. If it passes and really annoys me ill maybe drop the beam and give them a clean or a drop of grease.
Otherwise its a smart wee car, wheels need a lick of paint but the inside is spotless. Its kind of nice lol.

Ooooh a GLS... does that mean it has velour seats? My mum had a P reg 1.2 8v merit for years. It was unbelievably basic. Didn’t even have a glivebox! Was awful to drive and painfully slow. But it never let her down It doesnt have velour seats, it does have a tilt and slide sunroof, electric mirrors, electric windows in the front, power steering and front and rear headrests. Oh and a piece of advice I remember, get unde the back and spray a load of ptfe or something all over the curse word un-sheathed handbrake cable.... you’ll see what I mean! I know what you mean about the break cables, I was under the car on Saturday, pulled the rear drums off cleaned all, checked nothing was weeping, cleaned down the brake pipes and flex pipes and seen the bare handbrake cables, so cleaned round them and smothered them in grease and packed the little guide full of grease too. Appreciate the advice. Welcome to any other Advice it goes for MOT on Saturday evening. Replaced the wiper blades last night as they just made a mess off the screen. I have noticed the rear beam squeaks a bit, dampers all seem fine, goes up and down smooth and the springs are not broken. Sounds a bit like jumping on a bed?

Whahay, got some time today to check this wee wagon over. Checked the brakes over, fluids, tyres. MOT is in a week. Found a fault with a bad earth when you used the brakes and indicators all the lights on the back flashed lol. Cleaned the contacts and the pins and everything seems to be good. Wire brushed the sills and reapplied stone chip. Front on both sides have already been welded. So here she is, bask in her horrid-ness... Next will be get her through the MOT, paint the wheels and driver her!

Well I done it, got the keys yesterday. 2000 5 door Corsa B, 1.2 16v Ecotech in Burgundy with 47k on the clocks. Ugly as sin but it's going to be of great use as we're moving and need 2 cars.
