This is kind of what I am trying to prove lol. My Mrs insists our next second car has £30 tax as she is tired of paying high tax lol. Didn't realize Auto Trader had a tax filter (not somewhere I ever look to be honest) maybe showing her the price of modern cars with "cheap" tax might put her off lol and I can have my way

Does anyone have a list of cars with £30 road tax... Nothing brand spanking new but not full retro, just need a reliable daily with cheap tax that can have a towbar fitted.

As cool as the multipla is there is a chance on this earth I would convince the wife to even let one sit in the drive, never mind get in it lol
The FRV I didn't know had 3 seats in the front, will look into that one.

Hey, So the Mrs and I have been talking about the possibility of a micro camper, we need 3 seats which is where the pain point comes in. Unless we buy a fancy new wan were not going to get 3 seats in the front.
So we are thinking, Berlingo, kangoo people carrier variants and just leaving of the back seats in... Or maybe a touran again with just 1 back seat.
Also just to clarify when we say camper it'll be more van with enough space for a table in the back for picnics it'll not be slept in, so don't need to worry about bed space.
Advice, direction or other suggestions more than welcome.

Hahaha dear dear, gen 1 have gotten very cheap and I'm going to be need something soon to replace my Corsa B as a daily. Seem to be plenty of Mods and aftermarket for the BMW Mini which was making me look at them. Probably a big standard 1.6.

Hey Folks, I know it's not really retro but the early ones are starting to creep into that territory but what year did the BMW Mini Gearboxes stop being made of cheese and failing? Ta, Chris

Very informative, yes the panda 169. I'm not looking mega modern, I currently drive a Corsa B which requires me to pull the welder out frequently lol. So basic and reliable is my only key points.
I did read the back axles are a rust trap. But glad to know the 500 and Ka share similar parts.
Will check out your link, thank you.
Anyone else any input, mods, cool tricks, reliability problems...

So we had a 90 / 2000 car thread a while back and alot of appreciation went towards the humble little Yaris. I used to own one and been looking at another.
But MK2 Panda crept into the radar...I've never ever wanted to own a Fiat (Fix It Again Tony) as I was brought up thinking.
But what are they like and are they creeping into modern retro territory? And what are they like to live with?

Not sure if this car has been mentioned, I might of missed it. Mk1 phase 1 Yaris...produced from 1999. I had a MK1 phase 2 as an almost first car and it was great wee machine...never got modified though

Can't believe I found this thread, I've literally came off Facebook looking at these thinking, a little drop, some steels and the seats pull out could make a cool little daily van thing.

Similar note to the 106, Renault Clio, Mk2 Ph1 can be had for next to nothing. First released in 1998 I believe.

They were in an old suitcase in the attic with plenty of mold, some of the cassettes were also moldy, assume they would be past there best lol.

It's a home 8 track, actually Preet cool wee box, with some speaker that match. It was more the cassettes themselves, there's a big box of them left behind by the previous owners and it seems a sin to chuck them, but they are also knackered. Will have to get my thinking hat on.

Recently bought a new house and in the attic was a cool 8 track player and a massive box of 8 tracks all knackered from the cold etc of the attic.
Anyone any ideas of something cool they coild be repurposed into?

Some great suggestions I didn't think of, how did I forget about fiestas!
Budget is imaginary right now as I'm not buying just day dreaming. But probably sub 1k when the time comes.

So it's lock down, and my head's been spinning thinking of small retroish cars to own, the Mrs drive a modern country man mini and I drive a 5 door Corsa b.
Id love something else, so far I've though saxo, 106, Renault 5, micra, polo, maybe a small Volvo.
What other cheap retroish cars Am I missing that are suitable as daily drives and a bit of modification?

Wow that is some bit of kit, I was thinking more something that could be mounted on a table and moved about a bit easier.
Still very impressive, especially for the money.
Has anyone any experience of the cheaper eBay ones? To dip a toe in the water of making stuff. Never done anything like this before.
