I don't know anyone running an omega box with anything bigger than the stock td04 turbo which shouldn't make enough torque to kill the box. Everyone I've sold bits to seems to think the box can't cope but I've not heard of a failure yet. The escort I wired up for Ppc mag had a decent sized blower on it so il find out when it gets mapped . The only option that fits the bill is the xe to t5 bellhousing but not a cheap option . I have an adaptor plate to fit a v6 type 9 box but I don't have any info on what those boxes can take .

Well its now done 2500 miles around France and around Wales with no issues and the more it gets driven the faster it gets or rather I get so curse word off with the thing I ignore the racket and just cane it with no mercy . It does sit at 70mph but by god its noisy . Although I have all the bits to fit a Saab b234 I have an itch to have the 5cyl soundtrack so picked up an early t5 20v with a chipped ecu last weekend Tracked down a talbot power rack so the electric column will be sold on the t5 box has a 4.1 and slightly shorter ratios than the 4.45 Saab box I was going to use so a drop in tyre size will be close enough . Being maf based the volvo is a lot smoother coming on boost and pulls well all the way even as the boost drops off at high rpm . All the volvo mounts are low down so should be easy to find things to hang them off but can't see any room for a front cooler so will be using a focus rs chargecooler system I've got in the shed which has a nice long thin front rad to tuck under the front bumper .

Funnily enough I did ask my tester if he found a match for it on the emissions as its always passed the bet test when I've tested but as I'm selling I thought it better not to do it myself .

No tax or mot , my own dog carrier for the last few years but our elderly rotties have passed on so it isn't being used any more . 22k and two Previous owners , new battery cambelt and serviced earlier in the year . Needs both front arches doing and a few other bits , it will pass emmisions but my tester didn't get the cat lit as its a carb engine and takes a little longer to go into closed loop but I can show you it passing if needed . Our two new dogs have been eating the interior so the seats are not too good and one sun visor and door card are damaged . Two keys with immobiliser fob and as its at my test station you are covered to take it away subject to insurance obviously , no offers please

don't the discs bolt on to the back of the hub like the cortina ? if so your options are going to be limited unless you choose a modern disc over hub type set up and make new caliper mounts

Quite a lot of suspension mods to do as well to cope with the new motor . The rear axle being the stumbling block as there isn't room to put the beam on top of the springs and the axle isn't in line with the tube so an adapter needs making to move the hub upwards into the arch to lower the van by 3.5 inches . I have a mate with a scrap talbot to make the new beam up ready for the swap . The front end is a bit simpler just needing the front spring platforms lowering on the strut and altering the tca inner pickup point to get rid of the 1.5 deg positive camber and re drilling the front tie bars to add some caster . The manual rack is very low geared but with the electric column it makes sense to fit an escort quick rack with extensions to speed it up a bit as it seems like it needs half a turn on the wheel to start changing direction .
Never going to actually handle but a pair of anti roll bars from a later ducato will help it a bit .
From 50 mph it's so slow to gain speed I had to use the hard shoulder to get enough speed up to join the motorway last night but once up to 65 it seems to hold its speed ok .

Finished it last night at 8 o clock and did a 100 mile try to break it run with no drama so its off to Folkestone tomorrow night . The mojo will be fully charged for the engine swop after two weeks of chugging round France but the kitten needs putting together again first. Having a deadline has got all the boring stuff out of the way so the motor swap will be the fun bit , I also need to get a quick rack and do some suspension mods for the next journey across the alps with Saab power

Finally run out of things to weld so its in the paint shop for a colour change , Every last bit of grot is gone so it should be good for another 20years once it gets the waxoyl treatment when it comes back . I mulled over using the original colour but the lads in the paint shop have just done a truck in a very bright red or f**ck off red as they described it so I've gone the extra mile and prepped the door shuts etc so it all matches The captain chair conversion is causing a few headaches as the aero chairs are a bit bulky so I've had to add a second set of runners under the swivel plates that allow the chair to slide sideways towards the centre so it can swivel round . Still in budget as long as I don't have to spend too much on bits to refresh the 234 but I'm only missing a new main timing chain and bottom end bearings as long as the rings are ok . I pulled the shifter out of my 9k and it looks like it will need some work to shorten the throw as the van gear lever is 3ft long and il need to rig up a short cable and lever to get across the gate for reverse . My other half has booked some campsites in Brittany in may so I've got til next Friday to finish it , obviously still with diesel power but it means that all the other work will be done so I can concentrate on the engine swap .

It's not handed and the stake is there as a last resort if the nut comes loose .its torqued up pretty tight so you'll need a long bar to get it undone . Slacken the handbrake cable off in case the drums are worn and won't get past the shoes

Still bogged down with rusty bits but there is light at the end of the tunnel with just the front screen frame to sort A mixture of tissue paper expanding foam and fibreglass in there The screen frames are notorious on these vans due to the clever window seal that let's water run from the top of the screen to the back of the seal and then sits on the frame rotting it away in the bottom corners . Grotty Notty Bit of changing room action inside The seat boxes bolt in so can be moved back to allow the seats to recline fully on the passenger side at least once they are turned round . Got a flange made to fix to the diesel tank to take the 9k pump assembly as it leaves the fiat guage untouched and the return flows into the plastic pot so shouldn't have any surge problems , can't see any high g force cornering happening . Looks like its easier to leave the ecu in the engine bay and run the feeds from the fuse box which is behind the glove box . Need to track down a smaller steering wheel as the bus sized one is redundant now the epas column is in and it allows the seat to recline . By coincidence the clips on the aero seats match the fiat inertia belts , maybe a more common size back in the 90,s Got some more info on the lpg system and it looks like the supply side and vaporiser are the key to getting the power on boost , I have specced a unit that can support 330 hp with injectors to suit and the front end kit will be around £600 . With the two tanks I want to fit will come to just under a grand so il try it on petrol and see if I do the mileage to recoup the investment . Haven't done the maths but I can't see this doing more than a couple of thousand a year needs further thought or more truthfully I might get bored with 260 hp and start turning the wick up a bit

no straight fit for the gearbox but i can supply you with an adaptor for either the w58 or r154 supra box . flywheel from the mr2 turbo fits with a little mod to the bolt holes . budget at least £600 for the bits using a w58 or nearer a grand if you want an r154 .

Not strictly a design fault but someone at ford thought it would be helpful to put the NSF lower arm pin in from the top so it hits the gearbox when you try and change the wishbone .

Got the right wheels on and have two small patches to let it around the bottom of the screen and the welding Is all done . The rotten window frame being the worst as the insides are full of insulation and polystyrene . Done some reading and picked a few brains about lpg on turbo engines and its a no brainer for this build as I have room for three tanks and the earlier Saab lumps take to Gas pretty well just need to set the system up using a wideband afr gauge to keep it all happy .

I sold a brand new boxed Davies Craig electric water pump at £60 under retail and the guy left me snotty feedback because I listed p+p at £9 which was a guess and it turned out to be a couple of quid cheaper . No pleasing some people .
