My pet peeve is the person that always asks is it for sale? My reply is "for the right price" then watch there jaw drop when you ask for £10,000 where in there head they have brought it for £500.
Every car has its price and alot of mine is sentimental. Not to mention the time and blood spill running it.

The cheapest way to get a zetec running is the same way the banger boys do. Buy a manifold to run a 32/34 downdraft Weber and then buy the red ESC unit. This is a little box off the fiesta that is like a very basic dizzy. It plugs into the zetec sensors and with a couple of power wires will run the ignition. It's by no means the most efficient way of getting it running as the advance curve is way off, but is very cheap and easy. It's also very reliable. Have a look on turbosport website as there is loads of info on there.

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone would be able to help out - we're looking to transport a non running Hillman Imp from Cheshire to Essex.
No arrangements have been made for dates yet, a little unsure if we're getting the vehicle, wanted to see if we can transport it before buying the car.
Can any one help with some prices?!
Much appreciated
Dan

Hi
Got a cheap run about Ford Focus but turns out the wheels are buckled. I thought they just needed balancing but apparently not. So i'm after a set of wheels not bothered about tires or steels just round and 15".
PM if you can help.
Cheers
Dan

Looking to downsize my fleet and sell my much loved minivan. It underwent a full rebuild 2 years ago and this is the forum thread showing all the work done: All the rot has been replaced with brand new heritage panels. This includes: The front valance Wings A-panels Inner and Outer Sills Both front floors Rear Valance. Both subframes have been completely stripped, painted and rebuilt with all new rubbers, bearings and seals. It has brand new brakes 7.5" front and rear. Brake lines and master. The engine has been completely overhauled.. New tires New Aluminium Rad All new door seals Wooden dash with built in speakers Since that rebuild I have also completely rebuilt the 998 engine with a fresh bore and bearings SW05 cam and stage 1. Set up on the rolling road and its done 6000 miles since then and still running well. I have spent thousands on this little van and its a solid little run around. The paint work isn't the best as I wasn't in a great position to spray it at the time. Also i have been using it as a van so its not an immaculate concourse showroom model although i did fit an wooden rear load bed to protect the floor which is in really good condition. Its also had 2 winters now and where the paint has chipped its starting to rust again. Being completely honest the doors could also do with reskin as they warped when welding up but the frames are good and its got new hinges. Also it has a oil leak but what mini doesn't. This little van has done me well. It spent 2 weeks touring germany over the summer and has been the most practical mini i have ever owned. You'd be amazed what you can carry in the back great little parts runner. Does 50miles to the gallon. Starts and stops great. Also i have fitted some MX5 seats for comfort. I'm looking for £4500 but would also consider a px with some money my way. Something a bit modern for motorways. Car is located in CM77. I'll try and get some recent pics up soon. There is probably loads of bits i've missed but if your interested drop me a message.

The fiat tanks seem pretty cheap atm and it needs to be long and flat to go under the van.
Unfortunately i don't think the SPI will fit as its completely different to the Van.
Another question, are the newer tanks baffled as they are very flat and i would imagine suffer from fuel starvation if driven aggressively?

Hi I'm planning on putting a 1.3 micra engine in my mini van atm and will also be looking to inject my escort at some point and was wondering if anyone has used a newer tank on an older car to inject it. I was thinking of using something like the cinquecento petrol tank www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-CINQUECENTO-FUEL-PETROL-TANK-FREE-POSTAGE-/200991900934#ht_1991wt_1170So it will have a built in pump, feed/return pipe and a simple outlet on the side to adapt to the standard mini fuel flap. I could also then mount it in the middle of the rear subframe. So anyone tried it or see any horrendous issues that may occur if tried?

Also have you got a small steering wheel, with a quick rack that would only make it even more sensitive

You can take the bolt out of the upper suspension arm then take the arm then the trumpet and then the cone. You may have to tap it free as it will have the trumpet compressing it it. Done this on an old subframe which i had the same problem of stripped thread. You can do it both with the subframe on or off the car

If you just have a standard 1.3 escort then the gearbox is abit naff tbh. If you drive it hard with a tuned 1.6 then it will pop in no time. Like yourself i started out with a standard 1.1 crossflow engine. I managed to get hold of a 1.6 711 block, brought new pistons which are relatively cheap and a BCF2 cam. I used a 32/34 weber carb and it ran ok. I've now got a 4 branch exhaust and trying to fit bike carbs which are being a pain but should be worth it. A couple of things to look at though is if you fit bike carbs then if you have the old servo tower then you will have to swap this for ether a bias box or singe unservoed master and if you have a standard shell then without modifications no other gearboxes fit straight in. This is a good read www.burtonpower.com/tuning-guides/ford-cars/Ford-Escort-Mk1-Mk2-Tuning.htmland this is good tuning guide for the crossflow www.burtonpower.com/tuning-guides/tuning-guide-pages/ford-kent-crossflow-tuning-guide.html
