I quite fancy a place where I can throw some things that peeve me in the world of retro and classic car ownership. I'll go first with two that are close to my heart currently:
1. The bloke who invented door cards. If I could go back in time to the point where somebody decided to wrap a bit of fibreboard in pleather and clip it to the inside of a car door, I would do some murdering for the benefit of all of mankind. I hate door cards.
2. People who stop and watch me putting the cover on my car (I have a cover for my car because it has some leaky parts and develops a footbath after a rain storm). I always feel like a massive curse word putting the cover on my car though. Its not easy, she's a big old girl with lots of awkward curves and corners, and it just feels like the kind of thing a total nob would do... but every time I park up and get the cover out someone pops up out of nowhere, asks me what my car is (READ THE BIG METAL LETTERS ACROSS THE FRONT AND BACK YOU DONG "is it American?" they always say "NO" I say "Are you sure?" they always ask) and then makes himself comfortable in order to watch me wrestling the thing on and rolling around the floor trying to pass the straps underneath, whilst he leans there saying interesting stuff like 'My dad used to have a Datsun Cherry' and 'I've got a Smart Four Two you know'.

I would like to meet the man who invented drum brakes, and shake him warmly by the throat.

Hahahahahah, lovely. I have to be honest, I have grown to love drum brakes. I used to feel the same way, but when I'm looking at really old stuff, and hot rods etc... I find the sight of a big old drum brake so much more evocative than a modern shiny disk and caliper.

Regarding my door cards peeve... the first thing I do when I receive a new toy is pull the door cards off. It was easy on my Humber as the doors had been stripped for lightness so they were just clipped on ready to fall off. Except the driver's door which still has the latch pull and window winder, and can I get them off? NO I F***NG WELL CAN'T.

no door cards= massive door pockets. providing you have door bottoms anyways.....
and drum brakes are amazing. look better than discs, and actually work better providing you don't get them too hot.

There's an old farm not too far from me, and iirc there's a Fiat 500, VW Camper van, a Beetle, and an Alfa GTA there that have sat still for years which he won't sell
And the fact that I regularly find new patches of rust on my Escort is mildly annoying..

The sun and plastic , that get my goat ! Don't talk to me about sun and plastics, especially when they weren't brilliant before roasting them for 19 years. Some parts on mine look more like crazy paving than trim! I've convinced myself it's patina. And not retro, but the guy who first thought that a Toyota Fortuner was in any way suitable for human transport, or indeed for any other creature. I'll bet he doesn't drive one

Whenever the Jag comes up in conversation and someone says 'oohhhhh I bet that drinks fuel' or something to that effect.. Well duhh, no one ever bought a 4.0litre straight 6, nearly two tonne car for economy did they?

My pet peeve is people who come up and say "ooh nice...what's it worth?" I hate that, who cares what a car's worth? (Apart from all the gits who ask obviously)

^ Yes. That drives me mad too. I've had my latest car two weeks and been asked countless times how much it cost me, most recently about half an hour ago by my neighbour as I was fitting my new door locks. Right there in the middle of the street she's asking, and even when it's apparent I don't want to answer she just keeps badgering "go on, tell me".
WTF?!?!?!

Also, how come every time I get the peanut butter out the cupboard it's always a completely empty jar?
My wife always says "because we ate it all" thinking that's the correct answer to the question of why there's an empty jar in the cupboard.
Technically this peeve isn't related to old cars, but imagine if the cupboard was a glove box, and the peanut butter was a tub of Swarfega. Eh? Yeah?
Who's laughing now, eh?

Circlips, why oh why? Maybe it's just my incompetence, but any job I have to do, when greeted with a Circlip I know it will be half an hour or so of cursing and wrestling with a pair of pliers before the inevitable 'ping' and then the hour long search for said clip. Once found, the clip is invariably bent out of all recognition and of no use to man nor beast.
