Hi I'm planning on putting a 1.3 micra engine in my mini van atm and will also be looking to inject my escort at some point and was wondering if anyone has used a newer tank on an older car to inject it. I was thinking of using something like the cinquecento petrol tank www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-CINQUECENTO-FUEL-PETROL-TANK-FREE-POSTAGE-/200991900934#ht_1991wt_1170So it will have a built in pump, feed/return pipe and a simple outlet on the side to adapt to the standard mini fuel flap. I could also then mount it in the middle of the rear subframe. So anyone tried it or see any horrendous issues that may occur if tried?

I had a mini van years ago which needed a new tank
I also until january this yea,r had a cinq, which also needed a new tank
both are very similar in size / width / depth so should easily be altered to fit, you will have to allow some access to the top of the cinq tank for the wiring etc

OP has a van so don't think a saloon tank out of a 1.3i will be suitable. Personally I'd adapt a standard Mini van tank - maybe to take the 1.3i bits as mrrodney suggests. Paul h

after looking inside the mini injection tank I noticed it don't have a swirl pot , but I take it that's because its a upright tank and is small at the bottom ,

The fiat tanks seem pretty cheap atm and it needs to be long and flat to go under the van.
Unfortunately i don't think the SPI will fit as its completely different to the Van.
Another question, are the newer tanks baffled as they are very flat and i would imagine suffer from fuel starvation if driven aggressively?

when upgrading my old scimitar from the wheezy essex v6, to the fire-breathing XUD11 (lol) I simply swapped the fuel sender for a version that had a fuel return pipe as part of it. Found the sender on a car boot however, so couldn't tell you what it was originally from

I stuck an spi engine on my old clubby estate . I modified the tank with an extra fuel line as low to the bottom as possible and ran an external pump. It worked but I hindsight I should have baffled the tank and ran a swirl pot
