After six years in the retro wilderness I’m pleased to announce my return to the fold. I had been trying to save for another Pao, but prices are a bit over the top for what they are! My old Pao, much loved but still about! Then a couple of weeks back I spotted this locally. One owner since new, 74,000 miles, two lever arch files full of invoices for every piece of maintenance work, a fully stamped up service history. It even has the original supply dealer number plates front and back. It just happened to be the week we were moving house but after hasty negotiations and a promise the owner would keep it in his garage for me. (He had kept it in there for the last 25 years, so another couple of weeks wouldn’t matter). I picked it up on Monday, and immediately changed the wheel trims and replaced a rather tatty gear stick gaiter the only failing of the otherwise immaculate interior At the moment we now have this, needs some surface rust sorted, and then a few more plans to swing into action My daily I guess could be a retro these day a 2000 Renault Megane 1.6 Privilage Plus Cabriolet, bought a while back another one owner since new full history and only had 34K on the clock.

I would love a saloon. Have owned a few coupe's and a breadvan but never a loon.

Wheels by miaspaii, on Flickr Collected these last night, a 200 mile round trip...still in boxes never been fitted to car. Cost nearly as much for the four gallons of diesel used to get them!!! Just need some 175/70 13 for the rear, using the best two 165/65 13's on the front. Just need a cv boot that needs replacing, the suspension is coming off anyway so not much more effort and I am good to go!!

Thanks for the offer normally I'd never say no to anything free. I have plans for the engine bay, but requires the sale of my old daily and some free time!

Work continues on the Polo, yesterday was a bit wet garage was being used by chippy doing a bit of work on the house. I retired to the shed and knocked up this from a ten pound set of roof bars bought off gumtree. Added a few bits of an old loadmasters rack. Slates need varnish and need to get in another coat of paint.

Fitted the rack but it sits to high, also not happy with the rear end. If the weather holds out will fit the 175/70's. Will raise the back a bit but fill the arches better.

Had another play this morning sorted my clearance issues. Now have the stance I wanted 175/70's on the back 165/65's on the front. Needs the rear to settle back down, but exactly what I had in mind. Also gives me the tyres to fit in the 6n steels, bonus.

First couple of decent length runs at the weekend.
60 mile round trip taking “Gilbert”, (he is now named after his only previous owner) back to his home town of Lowestoft.
Learnt the longest trip Gilbert had previously done was to the Mildenhall Air Show when he was brand new, maybe 60 miles at a push.
Had no issues, so still not being happy with rear thought I adjust the rear a bit more if I had time.
Glad I didn’t have time! On the way to Retro Kings, three up and with some bits and bobs in the boot just in case. I will get a little bit of scrubbing above 65 mph when the road undulates.
List of things to:
Fit tyres to 6N steels a bit less bling that the hubcaps. Still keeping the 175 70’s on the back as I like the look.
Sort out rust scabs
Paint quarter light bar on drivers side, never noticed before it was bare metal.
Replace rusty exhaust
Only had phone at Snetterton so no pictures.

Rather fitting for the week the Polo has had, in true Mike Wazowshi style it appears on the Retro Kings face book page! Yeah look behind the Mini theres a camper, sticking out the front you can see the Polo's indicator!! It was pressed into emergency school run and shopping trolley when I finally killed this.......new gearbox no thanks off to ebay you go But I had to swap the insurance over to this which no was interested in buying luckily, which meant I would be using the family wagon for commuting the blue thing in the back ground. My other half was not impressed. The general consensus of opinion on the Polo in the school car park was "What the hell is that" and "That is one ugly car". My other half is considering getting the kids on their push bikes next time she gets the short straw as she puts it and has the Polo.
