My Mustang came on Acceleras on the rear and it was dangerous.
Changed to Michelin PS4 and it was like a different car.
Budget tyres generally suck, I wouldn't want them on a GTI never mind a M5!
I have put them on cheap stuff that that doesn't have much power and they have been fine, but they have no place on performance cars or anything that is going to be driven enthusiastically.

I learnt to drive in a yellow Hondamatic when I was 11 in Oz, so I always keep my eyes open for them. They seem to be really expensive or really rotten, worth looking on here for one direct from Japan - couple of nice ones last time I looked. www.goo-net-exchange.com/

I thought rear belt mounts were a legal requirement from the early seventies. My 1970 Beetle had them, even though belts were never fitted. Maybe lap belts, I know my dad waited for the 1st mk4 escort in 1986 to get factory fitted 3 point mount rear seat belts, he bought a brand new red 3dr Escort 1.3 Popular Plus on a D plate.

At the body end you won't be able to use the mx5 rubber floor boot, due to the fact it restricts the travel quite a bit, I would just rely on the cloth boot to keep any smells out, after all I don't think noise insulation is something to worry about! Quick thought, what about using some PVC waste pipe to make a floating tunnel between the gearbox & body? You could have the factory MX5 boot at the bottom & a rubber seal between it & the selector hole. Then it's just a case of using a normal univeral leather boot to make it look tidy? That would stop any potential fumes/rocks/spray/noise making it into the "cabin" (Yes I know it's a open cabin so maybe pointless lol)

If you are using Celotex/kingspan type insulation, this stuff looks great (I didnt even know it existed until last week)
I have a similar project to the video coming up so will be looking into using it. Some good tips on there as well, cutting kingspan is not fun & I always end up covered in the dust lol.

Most important question, will you be going anywhere near a ULEZ area? Renault Extra or Citroen C15 if not Or even a Renault 4 (I don't know what your budget is) Bit newer, but you can get them with a 1.2 petrol lump (which maybe ULEZ compliant), this one has a 172 engine

That doesn't look to bad of a job, I was half expecting the entire dashboard to come out. Handy the top comes out on it's own.
Love a e39 & this one looks great.

E36/46 lower wishbones when they are past it, you get a shimmy under light breaking from higher speeds. Feels like warped disks.
Budget tyres can ruin a perfectly good car.
Is the rear subrame/diff ok?
