Hi again guys and girls, After spending lots of time on the Lexus ls400 I finally made the choice to sell it and keep the money to put toward a house 🏠. so the hunt began for a cheap kind of fun daily that would keep me mildly entertained while I save to buy my first house. Being a big Lexus Toyota fan and thinking back to what I could get, my brother had a yaris T-sport back in the day, I spent a full two days looking at yaris t-sports and I can say all 6 I looked at were absolute nails and between 2-3k 🤦🏻♂️ I then recalled of of the lads had a Corolla T-sport for a brief period, 193hp and 8,200rpm sounded like some fun so the hunt began. I looked at 3 and I can honestly say they were all disappointing really 😂 but settled on the best of a bad bunch for the money and relative kinda niceness 😅 this is the one I settled on the day I picked it up, 100k, black leather interior, interesting color, £1900, washed with a brick 😂 cracked on with trying to sort the paint out best I could given the condition and how I’m not meant to be caring about this one 🙃 I once told sorted that I did the timing chain tensioner O-ring, lift bolts, rocker gaskets and a full service. Decided the car needed the daft diamond gearknob that cost me a fortune and that went in the car first. then driving back from London one night I happened upon these for £100 on facebook marketplace and the slipper slope begins again. then one night I put a bid on a leather cobra daytona for the drivers seat which I then won for £99. I bought some 5x40mm strip steel and universal runners and cracked on getting it in the car. Ended up snagging some Michelin pilot sport 4s for £60 a corner and then just had to send the wheels off to have them refurbed, decided on a silver/grey tarmac rally car kind of vibe and they came back this week. just waiting on some stickers for them to ceramic coat them and sling them on the car. for a car I wasn’t messing with, that is all 🤦🏻♂️ cheer! lou.

Very nice. I looked at these recently but got a 100hp panda instead. I should have got one of these as the panda is a bit too small for what I want.

Very nearly bought one of these and then saw the supercharged version, still very tempted and this looks like a good example!

Thanks guys.
I’m actually quite chuffed with it for the money but knowing me it’ll get messed with a tidied up over time anyway 🤷🏻♂️ Theme is if it’s a bargain I’ll buy it for the car if I feel like it improves it. Then I’ll upgrade improve parts as they break over time and that’s all it’s getting 🙏🏻

I've had both flavours, n/a and a compressor. They (the VVTL-i) respond really well to breathing mods and 200bhp is readily available. The compressor is a different animal all together.

I’ve already got an induction kit in mind that I’m going to DIY on because I can’t stand the thought of how much the K&N typhoon kits are 🤦🏻♂️

193bhp in that must be a hoot! You’ve got to kick it’s head in to make it feel like it’s 193hp but it’s great fun none the less!

After also owning the leg LS400, I dunno if I'd feel safe in that little Yota with nearly 200bhp!

I Enjoyed my T-sport Corrola, main issue I had was the horrendous design of the calliper carriers, the bores for the sliders wear and eventually seize up. new carriers are available but you have to hunt for them. I had a issue with he timing tensioner letting go, and not having enough time to fix it, & life getting in the way sold it on ebay....
the clutches are hilariously small, and lightly sprung, the gearboxes are a bit chocolate, baulk rings wear (usually 2 & 3rd gear)
With the Torsen diff from the mk3 Mr2S roadster, better brakes and a set of Bilstein b6's it would have been a fantastic car.

I thought about fitting the avensis brakes as an upgrade and drilling the discs out to suit, one of my friends had a diff in his 2zz swapped mr2 and it transformed it. This will be the plan with the car and maybe some mild aero too and take it on some beginner Motorsport events for some fun!

I was never convinced about the Avensis brake conversion, drilling the discs looks too dodgy for me. a different PCD is fine but not a 4 to 5 hole conversion as the hole ended up too close for me. (engineers curse i think) I was looking into the callipers off Renaultsport Meganne & Clio. Radial mount 4 pot Brembo's. Only issue was the master cylinder size. also be careful about the mild aero, have a look into the the events you want to do as some wont allow aero mods within the rules.

Yeah I wondered as there’s limited info out there on the internet, some small Brembos or willwoods would be my first choice anyway as I’ve done this a few times on other cars (toureg calipers on my b5 s4) so I’ll check the master cylinder size out for sure. I’d also like to keep the brakes snug under 16s if I can too! I’ll definitely check out the rules for aero too, I was thinking a front splitter with dam and a mild but proper rear diffuser too.

Hey guys, Only a small update, was never happy with the haggard gear gaiter with the stock chrome collar. So decided to get a “custom” one off eBay, fit was absolutely trash and took me an age to get right ish. Also got the stickers in the post for the wheels and cracked on getting them on, like everything does it took me ages to get right, finished them wheels by ceramic coating them. Just got to wait for some new gel Centre cap stickers in the post to get them 100%. They’ll be going on tomorrow. Next job is black alcantara pillars and headliner to make the interior a bit of a nicer place to be 🙏🏻 Cheers!

It's refreshing seeing something which is attainable these days for many . The hot hatch that was almost forgotten when it came out. It has scrubbed up well, and the mods do remind us of a bygone time .

Yeah absolutely mate especially with the price of everything going up these still seem normal money for a little fun car 🙏🏻 Haha thank you it was cheap for a reason, I think there’s a little mark or scrape on every panel but I’ve tried my best to make the paint that’s on it presentable! Gotta take care of all the necessary modifications first which is the stupid stuff 😅

That looks pretty tidy Nice to see a Corolla T Sport, I had one for a bit a couple years back, did some mods and a couple track days including a trip to the 'ring They're not perfect but with a few mods I think they can be a lot better than many give them credit for. I never got round to fitting a bucket seat and the standard ones were not supportive at all! I kinda wish I'd kept it sometimes but needs must at the time. If you're looking to do any track or motorsport stuff then certainly worth looking at a 1ZZ sump or an aftermarket sump as the stock one has little to no baffling inside for some reason, oil starvation can be a problem. I never did the sump on mine but I think I got lucky

Funnily enough I was chatting to my mechanic mate who used to work at Toyota and he said exactly the same thing to me before I take it on track! the 1zz sump looks just like the 2zz exige/Elise stock sump so should do a job hopefully. I’m definitely not up for spending the £450 on an aftermarket one that I looked at earlier 😅
