There is no mention of the garage actually offering the owner any money prior to asking for the logbook. Anyway, it would be ridiculous to speculate too much, 9 times out of 10 we only get the info 10th hand and only snippets of it even then. The garage probabaly asked for any logs or books...

Nah, it's a 1994 Carb, that's why I was hoping it would fall into some grey area! I cant see what the problem is here, the answer has been given, by looking at the flow charts in the testers manual and the data in he emissions book, the car will undergo the BET (basic emissions test with cat limits), fail that, there will be no match in the emissions book for the engine so it'll get a test with 3.5% CO and 1200ppm HC. No grey area, no fiddle and done by the book. I was asking which cars fall into the exclusion list detailed in the testers guide as I couldn't believe that my Carb car could pass the same test as an injection one, even with a cat. The posts above indicate that it should though.

Can't find any gifs of it, but the AE86 Levin has a twin brightness side light. When you indicate the side you are turning to goes as bright as the dipped headlamps and lights up the side of the road so it is easier and safer to see when preparing to turn. They stayed on for about 3 seconds after the indicator was turned off (or instantly if you indicated in the opposite direction. Don't know of any other car which does this. My Pajero does a similar thing. The sidelight and indicator are in one unit, when you indicate, the sidelight on that side dims so the indicator is more visible. 90s tech that I'd say is still only common in premium cars!

I know mine would pass the 3.5 test, I've had it set up to do that, I just need to get it into the test haha. If that's the case and your car came with injection as per the DVLA leaflet above you stand no chance*. Nah, it's a 1994 Carb, that's why I was hoping it would fall into some grey area!

I do this... I also find that once I keep something for so long, I can't sell it.

Had a very similar problem today with a mini, swapped a rear tyre which didn't feel to be wearing flat and problem solved!

The Discovery 2 duel cup holder. Not only do most things fall out when you accelerate or hang bends but when they are capable of staying put, they conceal the heater controls/ display and even the radio in some cases. BUT every negative has a positive, to make up for this random placement of cup holdery they supplied the passenger footwell with a 'takeaway hook', to hang your takeaway on because they knew that if you accelerated or hung corners, your takeaway would fall out...wait... Haha, I know I've mentioned this before but... my CLK (4 seater coupe) no cup holders... my MR2 (2 seater roadster) 3 CUP HOLDERS?!

Along th same lines, the c2 rear window that doesn't line up with the window of the door! That's probably edgy and youthful lol

I know its another modern car thing but door handles.... why oh why aren't they the same on all the doors?! The fronts are randomly placed in the middle of the door and not integrated, the rears hidden to a degree. There are loads like this now, I just don't like it. The alfa isn't so bad but the honda is 'orrible. I much prefer them when they are integrated into the swage line. This is because punters want to look hip with a 2 door hatch, but still want to be able to get their kids in the back!

Had no issues with my Pajero/Shogun. Much cheaper than a defender and mine is just as capable (I've had both).
Switchable 4wd drew me to mine and there's plenty of rotten ones out there for off road use.
Get a LWB and chop the roof off?! Lol

Happy to refit one if it will genuinely make a difference. I'll keep it in mind!

I've only ever owned one car with an electric handbrake, it used to tell me it had failed everyday but still worked fine and passed the MOT!

One for the MOT testers out there.
I have a 1994 Mini with a Carb. Each year at the MOT there is healthy discussion about it not having a cat, I know it had one originally, but it doesn't now.
Anyway, it can't pass an emissions test for a 1994 car but I don't think a cat would make that much difference on a Carb car surely?
In the MOT guidelines, there is mention of "exempt" cars which were manufactured between 1992 and 1995 but are exempt from a cat based test. Does anyone have this list? Interested to know whether it covers cars like mine where the skin flint owners didn't shell out for fuel injection.

I actually have ruined mine though... it rides like a sack cart... bump steers for fun... fills up with fumes and is too noisy to take on the motorway!

That's a surprise, I insured a 924 as a daily when I was 23 a few years ago. Most wouldn't touch me because of the Porsche badge but Lancaster realised it was just a 2 door Audi 80 lol.
Try Brentacre, I'm with them at the moment through an ad on this site.

The number plate looks like an afterthought, does my head in.
Probabaly appeals to those who have a personalised numberplate they need to mis-space.
