Black Mk3 Capri 1600GL, OLO252W, Milton Keynes 11/06/17 Black Mk3 Capri 1600GL reg OLO252W was stolen from outside the premises of a garage in Bletchley, Milton Keynes on Sunday 11th June 2017. The car had been in the garage for welding repairs when the interior caught fire. The garage left the car outside the property & it was stolen. The car used to be blue but has been painted black. The car has a small rear bumper fitted & no front bumper, the bonnet is painted quite badly in matt black & is quite rusty in places. The car has a “Mighty Car Mods” sticker in the rear window. The garage have asked the owner for the logbook for the car which seems suspicious!

Why on earth would the garage ask for the logbook?

I would think they'll be paying the owner out themselves rather than going through their insurance hence wanting the logbook same as an insurance company would.

Surely you'd be making further enquiries if you were the garage rather than just paying out regardless? I'd want a bit more info first, and would definitely not be handing any logbook of mine over!

Personally if I had just set a customers car on fire then had it nicked from my premises I would be falling over backwards to make it up to them as quickly as possible before my name was mud all over social media.
Maybe it's just me.
It doesn't mean there aren't searching questions being asked.

Yeah thats a fair point. Also it reinforces why I don't put my cars into anyone else for work. Even MOTs see me hovering like an expectant father!

There is no mention of the garage actually offering the owner any money prior to asking for the logbook. Anyway, it would be ridiculous to speculate too much, 9 times out of 10 we only get the info 10th hand and only snippets of it even then.
