Alas it is the old story - I just don't have the time to enjoy this anymore. So it is up for sale. It is absolutely on the button ready to go. Did an oil change over the weekend, the MOT is booked, as is the air-con regas. Helluva car for the next owner to enjoy Listed on Car and Classic Bidding starts on July 29th

As the thread starter - I can chip in. I've still got the XC70 I bought, now with an extra 30K on the clock. Pretty miraculous for me to keep a car so long. Nothing I want to replace it with, it is just doing everything I ask.
A couple of electrical problems blotted the copybook though. The first was the fault of the local garage, the engine earth after the clutch change wasn't put back right. That took some finding
There was a fairly serious battery drain, one of the circuits in the dash was staying live, again that took some finding. Couldn't find the actual cause, but put a relay in the circuit, and that keeps the battery up to scratch.

I've got the Continental unit in my SL. I bought it because it looked right in the car. I've got it paired with Audison amp and subwoofer and Fusion speakers.
The Continental is good on Bluetooth, but is so much better via USB. Alas there is no rear USB - which is a shame.
Bluetooth is paired to Samsung Galaxy S10+ and streaming via Amazon Prime HD music, so Bluetooth should be good.
I'm going to try it on an old school 3.5mm lead soon.

Don't forget Covid or whatever has seen a huge increase in classic car prices. I'm no expert but I'd be advertising way above the £7K of previous ads.
As a salesman friend of mine said, when a buyer is standing in front of you - you can go down, but you can't go up.
£9995 gets my vote.

Thanks for the kind words - appreciated I threw on a couple of spare batteries this afternoon, and the old thing started up without too many dramas. Well apart from the noise, the exhaust needs replacement - but I knew that. I shuffled it backwards and forwards - so it is time for the next owner to take over. Now shamelessly on eBay

For those that follow Retropower on YouTube - their next project is going to be a BJ40 !!
They haven't revealed the exact plans yet.
But if you fancy following along with your own BJ40 - mine is going to be for sale soon.
It is with a heavy heart. But I've picked up a hand injury, and whilst it is going to be fine day-to-day. I don't think embarking of a full restoration is going to do it any good.
So I'm going to charge up the batteries, get the engine running, and get it on eBay.

MGB Front Track 49 inches ... Sceptre Front Track 52 inches ... bum That is nothing the right choice of wheels and tyres won't sort. I'd have thought the width of the chassis rails of both vehicles would have been a more defining measurement (and yes I know they are both monocoque) An MGB subframe and a beefy engine were on the plans for my similar vintage Morris Oxford. Alas that puts it into Q-plate territory - which is a charm killer right there. How bad is the steering box ? Would a powered column get you to where you need to be ? Take a look at this for a similar vintage/shape vehicle done right Mk 2 Red Zephryr via Mark BognorHope it helps

I do like an 1800, they look very purposeful as a rally car... Ok I'm stumped - what are the handles on the front wings for ?

Really great progress. That crawler gearbox is super cool. Now you've got the manual, and know what all the levers are, you might have multiple neutrals available. It might have slipped into a neutral back in the day. Dunno - but might be worth a look before the gearbox guru turns up ?

If you fancy going single winch have a look at the Foers Ibex system. From memory winch is mounted in the middle, winch rope goes to the back of the chassis and round a modified snatch block then back along the chassis under the cab and out via rollers at the front. I used to have a Foers Ibex with the center winching system. It is very clever, but it puts huge compression loads on the chassis ( or spaceframe in the case of the Ibex) Rumor at the time was several Land Rover owners tried to copy it with disastrous results.

I get the garage to about 15 degrees as it's only a little job. I'm actually using a bit of rocket at the moment - not used it before but it's pretty good! Touch dry in 10 mins! Touching in small areas like this is only about 10-20 seconds of spraying, so with low pressure in the gun there is virtually no overspray so I keep the extractor off while spraying & run it for a few mins when done. I then close up the garage & leave the heater on timer for a couple of hours and run the extractor again the next day to clear the air. The fade out thinners is the worst - it absolutely stinks! Cant smell it with the mask on but you certainly can the next day. Thanks for that - that helps a lot

How do you find spraying 2K at home, at this time of year ? Is taking the chill off the garage and using a fast hardener okay, or are you using rocket. I've got a metal dash I want to do soon-ish.

I've seen a few rolled Mogs - and they aren't pretty. I'm not saying don't fit one, just do your research, and make one suitable for a Mog and not a race car. I used to follow Euro Truck Trialing back in the day. They ended up with cages that pivoted on the bumper. That is almost certainly way more than you want or need, but worth doing some research before reaching for the tube bender. 406's Rock
