As per title, I need to buy a DAB unit and some decent speakers for my GTI T2 project. Remember the unit live upright between the seats, of COURSE it does…
I don’t want lots of daft flashing lights, just a good, simple classy facia and some speakers. Any recommendations?

VDO/Continental ones are pretty good , I had a VDO (blue illumination) in my old 911 , worked great , make sure you buy the 12v version though.... I didnt bother with DAB as I just streamed 6 music to the unit. VDO/Continental |

Pioneer do a few SPH models that are made to link to your phone so have only a handful of buttons and when it's off, it's almost completely black and blank. Got one in the 190E and it works.
If it's mounted upright then the inbuilt phone holder could become a table for your pet squirrel.

Blaupunkt Bremen SQR46 DAB. Next! I have one of those in my SL , deffo not worth the price tag. I couldn't get the DAB to work with the supplied windscreen aerial so I bought a power adapter to use on existing aerial ,sometimes gets a few stations but it is really flaky |

Yeah. The aerial is pish. But since I never listen to DAB it's never been a problem for me!

I've got the Continental unit in my SL.
I bought it because it looked right in the car.
I've got it paired with Audison amp and subwoofer and Fusion speakers.
The Continental is good on Bluetooth, but is so much better via USB.
Alas there is no rear USB - which is a shame.
Bluetooth is paired to Samsung Galaxy S10+ and streaming via Amazon Prime HD music, so Bluetooth should be good.
I'm going to try it on an old school 3.5mm lead soon.
