I like the concept of the tent garage. I've been looking at them off and on for at least fifteen years and thinking they were quite a good idea. The two big issues I can see are resistance to strong winds and the longevity of the fabric cover. The first can be addressed with some sensible engineering and the second comes down to material choice. Could be advantageous if you're renting too. Not being a permanent structure the landlord is less likely to have an issue with you building/using it since it can be dismantled and taken with you when you move.

I got 14 mpg out of my Falcon towing a double horse box. I'd expect similar or worse towing a big caravan.

Thanks. Yes she is ace at art and craft stuff. I have no imagination whatsoever but helped move it around as it's really, really heavy. That'd be to stop the pigs from pushing it all around the place. Like your missus's bulrushes btw.

Correct position of horn switchgear. Doesn't matter where your hands are really. Trafficator switch in the middle. Bonus point for anyone who recognises the car.

Yes thanks for that - we made do with spotting on recent mini break! Wonder if they are all owned by one person or also do storage of interesting exhibits for other people. Eclectic mix of stuff for sure, is the first sign of age seeing cars from growing up in a museum ? James Or seeing cars you've owned yourself when they weren't terribly old.

The unrestored survivor look does it for me. This one belongs to a guy we met at a club event. Goes hard and feels a lot faster than it is. The wee caravan rather suits it too I think.

I don't mind painting, it's the prep that I find tedious. Probably too late now but is spraying it an option?

Gotta love the commercial spec seats in these things. Good one for the driver and a terrible one for the occasional passenger. Pi55ed penguin graphic is pretty cool too.

This would suit my wife. She never drives fast anyway. Shame we're on the other side of the world. GLWS.

I kinda have an 80/20 approach to work as long as 80% of what I do I like I'll put up with the 20% I don't. I reached a point where I was at less than 50% I enjoy - that was a problem for me but not for them so I handed in my notice. They have the choice to resolve that - if they do I will still be working for them - if they don't I won't. Outstanding attitude to life there. Guess it depends on how much they value your skill set. Either way best of luck for the future.

I hired one of these (tin top though) for a week in 1991 on honeymoon with my first wife. Was impressed with how well it went and handled. I'm sure yours will go even harder with the engine upgrade. Will be following this thread with much interest.

A friend from school once came up with a cunning plan to convert his mother's hen house into a garage for his Mini. Got it all cleaned out, drove in, then found that he couldn't open the door to get out.

I've used Loft boarding (MDF or chipboard) for shelves/worktops, tends to be 18mm and cheap (relatively). It also has all the structural properties of weetabix.
