A few months ago I was looking for a beetle and had one in mind that I'd seen advertised. The same day I saw a set of wide 5 Empi style rims in good condition for a bargain price on Facebook. Thinking they would be great for the bug project I rang the guy and went straight round to buy them. Seller was a nice guy and had a '65 which he'd bought them for but later changed his mind. We chatted about cars for a bit and I enquired about the '65 beetle he had tucked away in his garage but he wasn't interested in selling it. To cut a long story short, the bug project I had been interested in needed more work than I was able to do so I passed on it and the wheels I'd bought got shoved in the shed. Yesterday the hoover packed up and this morning on FB Marketplace an ad popped up for a cheap Dyson. Turned out to be the same bloke I'd bought the wheels from. While chatting he asked if I was still interested in his '65 Beetle as he was now thinking of selling it. An hour later this little beauty was mine! PS - I also bought the Dyson

It's a great way to buy a car. I set out one Saturday morning back in the UK, the shopping list was 5lb spuds, some Cumberland sausage and a paper. Came back with all of the above and a Subaru Legacy!

Walked across the road to the bank that the new owner could transfer the funds straight into his bank account. Then caught the bus to the airport arriving about an hour late. Wifey not best impressed 🤣🤣🤣

Slow, uncomfortable, almost certain to be rotten, cold ... I've wanted a Cal' look one since I was a teenager, still do.
That's a lovely looking thing, you must be chuffed!

As much as I like to see a slammed beetle, it would be a shame to see anything done to that. So nice to see one as it was intended to be.

Superb. Personally I would have gone for a Henry Hoover myself but I would have probably ended up with a cleaner's van instead of a Beetle

I know what you mean, a 60's Cal Looker or lairy painted back to '89 bug have always been styles I love but this one is just too ordinary and un-messed with to do that to at the moment. This one does have a 1600 lurking under the engine hood and 12v electrics so you can have lights and wipers, not one or the other like my old 6v '66, but otherwise retains it's stock beetle charm. I have a set of Empi's which I might throw on, just to see how it looks.

Slam it! I had a beetle last month or so that I swore I wouldn’t modify.... I lasted a week, modded it then sold it.

Numatic or nothing.
I’ve got a George, Henry, and a Henry Wash.
And a Dyson for the house..... I hate it compared to Numatic stuff. It’s weaker than my Nan.
