Thanks Pete! I've been working on the front end since the rear went on and I'm feeling as though things are taking shape. I've modified the steering arms so they can adjusted without using grips. It's an M18 nut filled out to 20mm, it's worked well but the track rod threads feel tight so I'll either strip them back again and see what the issue is or look at making new ones from hex bar. The steering box has been tarted up because it's in a great way as is so why risk messing it up! I've made a video about all this so please watch it - I'm new to this side of work so I'd appreciate some pointers!

I like how you've stuck with the original engine instead of opting for a modern unit, would you recommend the megasquirt ECU?

Like it Jim, good luck getting it back together in that small space tho! Looks nice, my first (owned) car was a Mk 1 1500, got it for £45 as it had had a bump into a BT pole, that was in the 70s. Thanks gents! I knew it was tight but seeing it through the video it looks tiny! I was hoping I'd gain some once I started fitting bits but no such luck! £45 sounds like a bargain! Shame about the phone pole jumping out on you!

After spending many hours watching guys on here create videos of their builds and the plethora of others on youtube I figured I'd give it a go and jump on the bandwagon!
I'd appreciate some feedback and hopefully I'll get some more made soon.

I do this all the time, the daily is keyless entry and ignition - it's made me lazy!
With that said I lose my garage keys whilst I'm in the garage!

Andy the finish is amazing! they've done a great job.
I can feel your pain though as my doors were exactly the same! At least now you can rest easily knowing your car is made of metal rather than powder!

I take exception to that especially coming from a Spireite! Getting back to the thread, you must have acquired most of the bits you need now Johnny? Sorry Jim couldn’t resist. Don’t mention the football 😤 Hahaha! I'd have said similar! I don't do the monkey tennis.

looking good Chris!
I had a similar problem with the cortinas paint burning and just went ahead and put stripper on it, looking at the state of the metal underneath that paint is pretty good given its age though.

I feel your pain, I've had my cortina for nearly 15 years and only had it on the road for the first 2. Granted life etc gets in the way but I waste time being fastidious over the smallest details - this is part of this hobby of ours, if we didn't get like this it's probably a sign your hearts not fully in it. They are tidy brackets and linkages by the way... I've always been of the opposite thought. If my car isn't ready for me to get in it and drive it any day of the week, and it's festering away unloved under a tarp somewhere, then that would feel to me like my heart wasn't in it. I've never actually been in that situation before though, so I can only speculate. My history of old vehicles has been guided by my personal philosophy that it's better to exercise a car regularly, and therefore I have personally opted for fixing things as soon as they are a problem, and not worrying too much about a fastidious approach to presentation. I tend to go a bit crazy if a car is out of action for more than two weeks because of a problem. Beyond that point it ceases to be a car to me, and becomes a sculpture that I am ultimately responsible for. I'm pushing myself to be a bit more flexible with my current car though, because it's much less of a banger than my previous cars, and it presents me with an opportunity to keep it presentable as well as roadworthy. It drives me mad I haven't driven it for so long, the engine died 2 weeks before I went to uni in another county so the idea was to freshen things up as the majority of the suspension etc was original and get rid of the underseal and again tidy that up then put it all together and drive off into the sunset... Then I found that it had some horrendous repairs and rust which having such affection for the car I wanted things to be fixed to the best of my abilities. I also knew if I sacked it off when the engine went I knew I'd not be able to afford another cortina when I could get another classic and it wouldn't be the one I bought.
