This is my latest project. I already have a mk1 Escort rally car, a couple of Astra GTE'S, a Ferguson tractor and a mk2 Cortina 16 GT project. All this didn't seem enough and after the Mrs putting the idea of a classic camper in my head, within the week we'd travelled from West Wales to Helston in Cornwall to pick this up. It's been off the road for 20 years but have got it running and all electrics working. The brakes completely need replacing though.

Man , thats Nice !!! I had one 23 years ago as a camper , but I was so young and the car was so bad , we did not make it out of the Street , before the engine complete [email protected] it self. No money so we scrapped it. It had a lovely 3 piece backdoor. A folding upperside and 2 small Doors below. Lovely car , wish i had a little more money and much more patience those days. Going to follow this of you don't mind. Bookmarked!! All the luck
And some more. Plan is to get it on the road. I will then get it painted and get the inside boarded out. I'll add a rock and roll seat/bed cooker and seat and that will be it. I'd like to add a better engine and box at a later date as these are only geared for about 60mph flat out.
I welded in a few panels myself as I was on holidays but the rest of the recommissioning is going to be done by my brother as he has just started his own classic car business and I'm to busy with the mk2 Cortina and finishing the build of my new garage.
I've had the van about 2 weeks now and apart from the rear corners, a front wheel arch, the sills which is a nice easy replacement and and some small sections of roof gutter most of the welding is done.
The main problem I have with the van is I did not do my homework before I bought it. It was imported from France by the PO a few years ago. I have the NOVA certificate as he sent it on to me as he had to print off the Portal. The problem is I thought the NOVA was what I needed to register the van in the UK and not just a tax certificate. To that end I don't have the original log book so I'm going to need to prove it's date of manufacture to get an age related plate. I think the PO tucked me up here.
I've contacted the Renault Owners Club but they don't hold any data to register it. The guy said to try Renault Ami club. The only club I can find with this name is in Germany. I have tried emailing them but the address is not recognised. 😠 The other problem I have is it needs all new slave cylinders and a master cylinder. I have found a French supplier for these but they won't answer my emails. I just want to order the bits😠
I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall
Can't help you with the registration, sorry. But for parts and a lot of experience I may have something for you: www.renaultestafette.nl The owner, Willem Belder, knows a lot about Estafettes and also has parts. Should think he is able to help you out.
