I've contacted lots of clubs so far but no joy yet. I'm going to have to brush up on my French. (Not that I've tried speaking any since aged 14 in school.

He'll take on anything. He used to build old Alvis and Bentleys. The other rear corner also needs doing but it's only the bottom 3" gone unlike this side where it was the bottom 3'.

Progress? I have found out that my van was in fact built in 1971 and not 1979 as The PO said. Work is moving on and the welding is coming to an end. One sill left and a front wheel arch needs replacing as it's pretty beat up. I can buy a GRP one from Holland but I haven't had a reply yet. The wheels have been sent off for banding by 2" and I've had the front brake shoes relined. I've spent today making a new petrol tank as the original was made of the thinist steel I have ever seen. It was pretty rotten and had imploded too. I guess the breather blocked at some point and the fuel pump vacuumed the tank. I made the new one a bit bigger and tig welded one side together. I'll do the other tomorrow.

Just found this thread, excellent work so far, re trying to age and register vehicle. The DVSA form V765/1 `List of Vehicle Owners Clubs`, this is the list of `experts` who provide the required letter for the DVSA to allocate `correct reg`. Try all of the Renault contacts, even if they can not help, they may know someone who can. I would also try Renault UK, worth a letter, they may be able to access production records.....don't have a Q plate until you have exhausted all other options

Regards the registration thanks to dikkehemaworst 's friend in the Netherlands and ceesdeborst's info I have printed off a "" Demande de certificat d' autenticite ""fom the Renault Classics website. I need to fill this in and send it off to see if I they have the exact info the DVLA need.i might need to gat a club to give it the rubber stamp.

I've had (and are still) moments I wish someone else had bought it instead of me but I'll be happy when it's sorted. There is guy in Essex that imports them and on the road price is about £4000 but then it'll still need cosmetics doing. I'm replacing all brake parts, hoses etc plus all welding as well for hopefully this amount. I'll get it painted after its on the road. I'm going to make it into a day camper with a rock and roll bed and a sink and burner. I'm going to put a bed above the cab for the kids aswell. Not a lot else. The wife makes traditional soap and does a lot of fetes and craft fairs so it will be used for that as all the stuff doesn't fit in the Avensis. I also hope to start using it for weekend jaunts around the West Wales coast. Won't be going to far as 60mph is the stuff of dreams with this van as it's extremely low geared.

Called over my brothers today to weld the mounting tabs on the tank. I took a nicer photo of the sill on the one side. And also one of the side left to do. The front door pillar on the sliding door needs to be re uilt also but I have a section cut from a scrapper to replace. Only problem is half the front wing will need to be cut off to do a proper job. There was a hole in the GRP when I picked the van up which had helped to rot it out. This has now been repaired. The roof is translucent from the factory but I will be covering it in flow coat the same colour as the wheels and bumpers - I want light grey but the Mrs has first choice sadly. When I got home I hung the fuel tank from my 'painting frame' and gave it a few coats of red primer then a few coats of the obligatory satin black. And that was end of play for today.

One on ebay last week went to £9100 reserve not met. But there is also a guy selling a camper on there. Not sure on price though. Join the Renault Estafette page on Facebook.

I believe the camper was on ebay at £5495 and didn't get a bid. It seems the Estafette world is the same as the H Van world - most people only want them to make into food trucks. You're doing a great job, look forward to seeing it done. Makes me feel like keeping mine, and actually using it!

I read your thread on your Estafette last week. Nice bus. Have you done any more to it? Food wagons seem to be the in thing right now - can't see how they make the food taste better??

Called over my brothers this afternoon and the welding for the MOT is finally coming to an end. The passenger sill is now on and the front post on the sliding door has been rebuilt as it too was rotten. The rear of the front wheel arch had to be cut off to mend the pillar. It's taken a bit of a knock here which is why I think it was so rotten. Still needs a good beating to get it back into shape. This and a little bit on the inner sill in front of the seat is the last bit of welding so tomorrow it the 4 week weldathon will be finished. The keen Estafette fans among you will notice the sills are not standard design. I bought them from a guy in Essex who sells spares. The standard sill are very round and dare I say it quite feminine looking. These sill have one round edge and one 45° angle. The angle should go at the bottom but I elected to put them upside down to man them up a bit. To me it look more like a side skirt (that's a manly skirt). The banded steels should be back tomorrow so I'm a bit excited.

No photos but fitted the tank today. Filled in my form to send to Classic Renault for an authenticity certificate but needed to send a cheque for €50.you can't do that on a personal cheque so went to the bank and you can no longer do a foreign bankers draft either. The post office can't do foreign postal orders either so I just sent a cheque for £60 and hope it will cover any charges. Let's hope they accept it or else my only other option is to put €50 in an envelope.
I've also ordered flowcoat for the roof in grey as it currently translucent and rough. Phoned to see where my banded wheels are as they were due back last Wednesday but they haven't started them. They did not realise that there was no hole in the centre so they can't fit them to their equipment. They now need to make a jig to mount them. This is a bind as the van is stuck on the ramp and my brother is moaning at me as he has other customer cars to do.
Oh well.
