awesome stuff, take copies and try with the letter from Renault, you might even be able to get renault uk to write some sort of cover letter to help you out also?
Thanks Adey. Did you manage to get hold of one of these for your Dauphine? My brother got a log book a few weeks ago for a Gilbern Invader that had been off the road for 31 years. The DVLA sent it back saying the chassis number was wrong as he had put a B instead of a 3. It transpired that the recorded details were wrong and it was a B. The person dealing with it sent him a direct dial number and when he spoke to her she took his word for it and changed it there and then. I think I'll give her a ring and see of they will accept this certificate instead of the Carte Grisse
After spending this year getting my mk2 Cortina ready for paint and spending the last couple of months decorating to keep my wife happy, I've actually done a days work on the Estafette. To register it in the uk it needs an MOT. Today was spent getting all the electrics working again which was a complete success.
It had an exhaust leak where the manifold meets the down pipe. It's the same set up as an old mini but the clamp is rotten so I'll get a new one tomorrow. I put the front bumpers back on too and fitted a nice stainless rear view mirror.
Remaining work for MOT is to fix the driver seat as the base has collapsed, fit rear bumpers, exhaust clamp and attach the new Bosch wiper blades I've bought that don't come with the correct fittings for the wiper arms.
I didn't take any pics of the work done but took a couple of pics of it as it stands now before I left my brothers.
Well it's finally home after about 15 months over my brothers. Most of the time with it just sat there waiting for brake parts. I did a bit more yesterday. Crack in the silencer welded, orange bulbs fitted in the indicators as the lenses have faded and I also did a temp repair on the driver seat using a piece of plywood under the foam. This will need to be redone as it cracked as soon as my well developed rear end landed on it. The ply must have been rotten. Jobs left for the MOT are to fit wiper blades. They are the same fitment as mk2 Jag so I've ordered a set.
Hopefully the next instalment will be with an MOT certificate in my possession.
Other than take it off the trailer so I could go racing yesterday, I haven't touched the van. I have ordered a battery for it which was £57 for an 075 size. I nearly choked. I've not bought a battery for a few years but couldn't believe how much they've gone up. I'm going to leave the MOT until the new year. Have a picture of it in the snow this morning.
Just read through the pages.. Great work so fare. Quick question. When you say you picked in up from Helston, would it have been from a dealer in a little village just outside helston by any chance?
Thanks. It was a little village called Gweek. In fact that is what we named it. The guy dealt in tractors. He said it had been dry stored but with the amount of "green " on it I feel it had sat in his drive for a good while.
