Another call shift, so another couple of hours before work. I didn’t want to, it’s bl00dy cold, but stuff still needs finishing.
Cast your minds back to the summer when it was warm(er) and sunny(er), to this image
As it’s a rally car, it needs white door squares for the numbers. As the car is white, I don’t need a sticker, but it should have a black border where the numbers will sit. As the scrutineer was coming out to sign the car off, I just did it in electrical tape and pulled it off later.
So I bought 20mm “proper “ tape (I don’t know what it’s called) and made up some squares to the required size
I was aided by my biggest fan (heater)
The result
And the other side
I’ve also got a ratchet strap mounted to hold the spare wheel in place
And fitted some grommets in the boot to stop the wells on either side getting full of water / mud when I’m driving. No photo.
I’ve been driving it a fair bit to get some mileage on it to try and highlight any issues. I did have a weep on one of the front brake pipes that was resolved by nipping up, but nothing nasty has reared its head yet.
In other news, regs and entry forms are out for Jaffa Stages that runs at Pembrey on 29th December. Dan the navigator has filled in the forms and is poised to submit them at 20:00 on 25th November when applications will be “open”.
There are only 70 entries. 50 on a first come first served bases, 10 for Cross Cars, whatever they are, and 10 more decided by the officials. It’s a pretty popular event so the chances of getting a run are marginal. With me not having any driver experience in stage rallying, it may be even more unlikely.
Fingers crossed.
