Zetec turbo on a budget
St170 bottom end ( forged rods and Pistons ). You need a black top head and a focus Rs head gasket. This give a comp ratio of 8.6-1
You also need to put the st170 valve springs into the black top head if you don't want valve float.
This set up is reliable to 300ish bhp and will max out a stage 3 t3
You can make a zvh using same bottom end and a efi cvh head. Just requires a little bit of creativity with regards to water pump and a few other bits.

I've done a few wheels in a lathe
Just held them in soft jaws and tapped them till they ran true on the dti. Need a big chuck for that mind you. The machine we had had a 25" chuck
Just take light cuts and they won't pop out.

At a bare minimum youl need a water rail. And a method to control ignition ( edis is fine , 3d mappable better )
You'll need a rwd exhauast fanimold. There millions of inlets available ( rangining from your banger racer set up running a 1,4 cvh carb- through to twin carb manifolds.
The sump will depend on your sub frame clearance. You might get away with using a factory sump ( 1.8 is front bowl as in close to the crank pulley ) 2.0 is rear bowl.

Sounds more like a pump seal letting deisel through, it knocks as the derv will be injected at the wrong timming.

I had one an Al pat identical spex to yours , But with a scorpion twin box exhaust ( with an extra box welded in to cut noise, )
And a k100 set up. This really transforms the car. Mine made 232 bhp with the exhaust, a modified standard air box and the k100.
The big change though was the spread of power. I had the cross over set at 4500 and the Rev linit moved to 8900 rpm. This gave a really good usable power band. The increase in tourque was very welcome aswell.

Got an lt35 turbo 5 cyclinder sat on the drive, there's another doner for you.
Engines mint but the Ecu is shagged I think., pretty sure it only controls the fbw throttle.
Currently bodged it to run mechanically. And with a throttle cable

Cheers for the reply. That's exactly the sort of info I was after.
Looking at the design of the 3 spoke they've got quite a deep 'boarder ' so plenty to machine down into. Don't really mind how there mounted hardwear wise.
I just hate the way the car sits on the 3 spokes as standard. But think they'd look so good as splits.
Id happily leave them as 14 and just make them a 2 piece put wider.
I may well be in touch a bit more in the future.

So are your wheels still 13"?
I have a set of std 3 spokes for my fiesta Rs turbo.
Id like to split them, but also go up to 15" of possible for tires choice. I know Id have to go 3 piece as opposed to 2 piece ( I take it yours only have the outer barrel?
Really wanna look into this some more as I think it really adds to the car in a oem+ sort of fashion

Oh My now that is nice. Forgive me for the hijack, I don't know much about this setup but what is that being driven off the Exhaust camshaft pulley? Supercharger? Could also be an auxiliary fuel pump, was common when some bdt and yb engines were used in endurance racing.

Cheers for that me son has a Mk5 1.25 he's had it 2 years and fancys more power oh well, i see this swap in my future sorry for the hijack of the thread n10beg I converted a few 1.25s back in the day. The maps are pretty similar, so if you pop a 1.6 in a 1.25 with the 1.6 maf and Injectors it will run well enough on the 1.25 ecu. Used to do drive in drive out 1.7 conversions on the zetec s 1.6 aswell. Got them down to 4.5 hours start to finish.

Don't be different for the sake of it. There's usually good reasons for common conversions. But it wouldn't be hard to get a puma running in there For curse word sake don't for a 1.6 zetec though. Tiny valves and a crappy 88 bhp power out put. The zetec se 1.6 engine is good ( Yamaha unit again). But if going normal zetec, go 1.8 or 2.0 only Have to agree there, the ex wife has a 1.6 zetec escort and TBH my cortina 1.6GT spec pinto was quicker and nicer to drive (power delivery wise), great on a run mind you (fuel wise), having said that in a smaller car it wouldn't be as bad but if your going to fit a zetec why get the lowest powerd one that TBH a decent CVH would outperform ? zippyobrien : Is the puma differant to the fiesta Mk6 zetec SE cos i changed the ecu on one of those a month or so back (idiot welder spiked the ECU) and i couldn't get it to start without the matching dash? honest question not arguing just like to know It is the same engine yes. Id use a mk5 fiesta a donor though. Much simpler loom and wiring. The 1.6 will make a easy 120bhp with a manifold . Decat and map. 145 is do able just with cams. Head work will relieve 155 ish. After that you need bodies, but they'll do 200-220 on a modest budget and still wet sumped.

I took a classic policy out with them recently.
They made it very clear that if I went to pay monthly that I would have to have a credit check as its finance
Just payed it of in one as it was only 200 odd
But they did make it VERY clear that it was a finance agreement

Some miss info on this thread.
It's a great light weight engine
You will need the ecu ( tape code is the best as it can be hacked to run the racing puma map) You don't need the matching clocks. Just the transponder from the key.
The bay loom is totally seperate and links the the car via 3 plugs. You would need to hack one of these to link the clocks up to the engine loom. Then keep the rest separated.
As for the gearbox. You could put the ib5 bell housing on to your 4speed. However the 1.6 gear box would be my suggestion. Shorter ratios tha the 1.7 box. This will mean using mk2 xr2 drive shafts though ( he Cvs are interchangeable on all bc and ib5 boxs.
1.8 focus clutch is the biggest and strongest yku can fit in the whole ( with out going multi plate )
A 1.7 with the tape Ecu, racing puma map and a Decat will make a very healthy 135-140 bhp. It's actually easier to get more power out of the smaller 1.6 As it has no Vvt, cams are cheap and they seem to rev a bit better. 1.7 is nice for a fast road engine.
I see no reason why you wouldn't get one in and running in a weekend of you have the bay loom, ecu and a wiring diagram.

I'm sorry but I agree with the above.
If it was a coupe it would be worth this money. But I think your atleast 5k to strong for a convertible.
Not knocking the car, exciting they certainly are, but I highly doubt any one ever described them As an amazing handling car. It's a e30 in a fancy suit.
Still, good luck with the sale. Looks clean.
