Most excellent purchasing skills.
Your thread has continued to inspire me and a new project looks to be on the cards for me as well!
Not as exciting, but also something that I've wanted to own for about 17 years!

This looks great. 8v Turbo will be a cool engine swap as well.

I am absolutely no help when it comes to your gearbox replacement question, but I will say that I really love the look of these. They have aged so well. Look forward to updates.

I've dipped in and out of this thread in the past, but I've now just spent some actual time to read it properly in it entirety,
What else can I say but WOW! The level of detail and craftsmanship is just amazing.
What kind of power are you expecting from the new engine setup? Its going to be an absolute animal.
I guess you'll have to start on the V8 4x4 Escos after this is finished.

Excellent engine choice and a fantastic fleet.
These are 4x114.3 PCD are they not? Could get some interesting JDM wheels to hint at what is under the bonnet.

Yup, although my wife has a back up Civic, although that's also 15 years old. I always forget about the phase 2 square light Polos. That looks fantastic! Thank you. Its a flattering photo 😂

Both the colour choice and finish are excellent. The cans I ordered have turned up, so hopefully I'll get a chance to have a bit practice.

You certainly put that more succinctly than I managed! You were a lot more informative though haha.

I'm going to order a couple of cans and have a go on a spare bonnet I've got. See how good a result I can get before committing to painting the whole car Tom You will get a decent result if your prep is good. Just don't over apply. You want a wet coat but obviously just before the point at which is starts to sag. Dries really quickly too. Ordered a couple of cans of Street colour. I'm being a bit of a Fanny with this Polo and want a car I can polish, so I hope I can get a decent finish.

Great thread, and with YouTube links above, which i have watched during a nightshift old cops programmes rabbit hole, here is another worthwhile cop programme to watch when cars were cars... and started themselves if stared at long enough Used to love watching X Cars on a Friday night! Tom

If you want to make it even easier from you self get one of them clip on trigger sprays to go on the can. I’ve done a whole car (truck) in Montana before and the only downside was a sore finger from pressing the cap so much. It goes further than you think, I bought 10 cans and used 7 and I wasnt being shy with it. Got one, I had the same issue when I painted my last Polo with Montana Black Tom

Duuuuuuude that looks epic. What's the finish like? Looks pretty shiny already. Finish is great. Few defects in it but nothing I’m worried about. It would have been better to paint panels at a time with the adjacent panel masked off because the blends are harsh but they may polish up, but it looks amazing straight from the can. It’s unreal. Are you going to clear coat it, or do you think it'll be hard wearing enough? Gotta say it does look really good out of the can, tempts me to have a go on the Polo.

I also now get quite a few magazines for free on the Kindle App due to the wife's Amazon Prime subscription. Classic Ford, BSH, Evo, Scootering, Fast Car,Classic and Sports Car, Volksworld have all been on. Tom Can you give me an idea on how to do this please? I read a few on RH Digital free via the library. Log in to Kindle app with your Amazon Prime account, then there is a tab called something like Prime Reading, it has all different catagories and one is magazines, within that there are quite a few automotive magazines. From the area it was found it looks like it was stolen to strip for parts.
