Hi! I am very interested in old cop cars pictures. Hopefully i'm not the only one in this forum So why don't we post pics of those cars we remember seeing when we were younger? Do you remember the engine? maybe the trim? I'll begin with some retro CopRides of my Country and a little explanation of each one. National Police: - Talbot Horizon. In early 80s Spanish national police begin to dress with brown colour. They bought a ton of talbot horizon -1.5 and 1.6 GT-. In 1987 they switch to white/navy blue and the repainted it. The car got the new uniform before the agent But In 1989 horizons were beggining to show its age, so the National Police organiced a big contest where a lot of brands took part (Peugeot 405, Sierra, R21, Kadett/UK Astra). The winner was the Citroen BX PH2 with the 1.9l 8v engine "Response Capacity. There are very special clients. Clients who demand a lot more than the others. Because they need high level specs cars. Because they work level is special too. Like the Police. Their job demands a solid, fast, high-tech vehicle. And in Citroen we managed to find it. The 500 new patrol cars of the National Police are Citroen BX. 500 vehicles which without any doubt will respond faithfully to the requirements of such an important service like the given by the police" Then in the late nineties the swich to dturbo pug 306 and xsara and some seat toledo.

That is cool,a police BX.
However,if they had to wait till the hydropneumatic system pumped the car to an even level, before they could give chase or start pursuit...🤣😀😛

I'm using my phone and I have no idea how to post pictures, but I'll contribute to the thread. When I was a wee lad my local five oh used MK2 Escorts and Allegro's as panda cars, in light blue and white. As for the big jam sandwiches I remember rover 3500 sd1s, mk2 2.8 Granadas. Also let's not forget the 3 litre Carlton's. Apologies again for lack of pics.

I still remember police cars being referred to as jam sandwiches. I don’t remember seeing cortina’s as police cars as a kid...were they common at one point? It was always mk3 escort panda cars, Sierra’s, Granada’s and Rover SD1’s

In a vague sort of way reminds me of my youth. Northumberland Police used at least one Daimler SP250 Dart in white as a traffic car.
Like this:
Otherwise it's Wolseleys and Jaguars.
And Noddy Bikes:

This? Hotrodder? That's it!!! Thank you mate!!!👍👍 That was a time, when they popped up behind you,you held your breath(or sh...t your pants, depending what you had done). A lot of fear-respect for the cops back then. Nowadays...😕

Our local branch of Strathclyde's finest used to cruise about in these: I remember these too plus the later generations of Granadas and the big Vauxhalls. I remember a story my Dad told me. In the 1970's a fleet of new CID cars (Hillmans of some sort IIRC) arrived at Paisley police station. They'd bought a job lot - all sequential English numberplates with aerials in places no normal version had them. Needless to say they weren't a huge success as undercover cars!

A few from back in the day I remember Blimey! I'd forgotten about that light blue-green livery. There used to be loads like that in Essex where I grew up.

I am not 100% on the exact year but I think very early 80's when 2 police officers came out of nowhere driving the same Ascona as above and stopped me for riding my moped/brommer on the footpath. I was not wearing a helmet and had no insurance. But I had a good excuse; I needed to drive my moped as I had my left leg in full plaster. They did not agree. Maybe it had to do that I was only about 12 or 13 or so...Minimum age to ride a moped was 16. Anyway mum told them to keep the moped. This was the moped
