the sun was shining the weather was sweet yea, yesterday Lancaster offered me insurance for 200 quid, job done my favoured MOT shop has a slot on Monday at 3 but I'me at work till 3, so a mate is going to take it down there and ill be there about 3.30. A reassessment of work is required. Yesterday I managed a couple of hrs gently caressing the wiring loom, A job which if I'm honest i rushed to get in to the car originally and hid behind the carpet. but the having all the interior and carpet out makes it a lot more accessible. 20190328_152348 by logicaluk, on Flickr just finding a location for the immobiliser that wouldn't mean ether drilling more holes in the bulkhead or causing a water leak from the (heater blower air intake/wiper motor linkage box thing)took quite some time and nearly led to the dash coming out, wiring it with its many all black wires wasn't hard just time consuming splicing soldering and heat shrinking, actually I'm really impressed with it, 2 18A immobilized circuits (starter and one other they suggest ecu or fuel pump), works from a passive fob on your keyring. infact it works so well, if it wasn't for the bright red LED on the dash you wouldn't know it was there. 20190328_222203 by logicaluk, on Flickr Put the interior back together. 20190328_222125 by logicaluk, on Flickr Then started going through the MOT checks, breaks feel soft but if you put the hand break on the feel fine, Acclaim rear drums are supposed to self adjust, well the don't, not even slightly, so its jack up, off with the wheels, drum off adjust, put drum back on check, find out I've moved the ratchet and pawl the wrong way take drum off, adjust put drum back on, hoping I've moved it the right way this time, take drum off again adjust, try to put drum back on and yes the lip is catching but it goes on and its seems better. do up hub nut yes the acclaim drum is also the wheel hub.......... lose the will to live and repeat on the other side, and then test the pedal excellent much better. No play in rear wheel bearings ether YES. no apparent leaks, checking lights showed no fogs mmmm inspect to find the connections rotted off the back of the light fitting. have to check the pig sty for spare fog lamps but that's a job for tomorrow after work. Thankyou for you support guys, its appreciated. Very much appreciated. I might just have enough money to insure the car, spoke to Adrien Flux this morning and they want £230 all mods declared (which took some time). PLN part the first. If I'm going to get Frank back on the road then ive got to fix the seating, acclaim seats are very comfy, in a standard car. Frank corners like he on rails and the seats, well they only support my fat and not much else. my daily civic seats seem to fit me very well, there heated half leather jobs with a decent amount of lateral support, but my car is a 3 door and they have folding mechanisms which raises the seat height too much, only the 5door mk7 face lifted civic has just the right seats they would need to be modded but unless i wanted to buy a whole car i cant find any, so a few scrappy visits found me bringing home a pair of sorry looking MGTF seats for £40. the drivers side window had been removed and it was soaking wet and just a little mouldy, once cleaned up and just sat in place they look pretty good, so they will be made to fit. 2019-03-26_10-58-49 by logicaluk, on Flickr I'm awaiting the arrival of some 25mm angle to make new mountings for the acclaim runners to bolt to, which should also lower them a little further. B. The exhaust noise in the cabin is way to loud so today seeing as I'm waiting for steel i added a large amount of sound proofing under the carpet. 2019-03-26_10-19-05 by logicaluk, on Flickr that should help a little, but the most noise i get seems to be coming from the exhaust tip via the boot, so more work required. 3. did i mention that the last job I did before my back went was to send off a cam to Newman Cams for a regrind? well that is sat in a box with a bag of re-faced rockers all waiting to be rebuilt and fitted. Forthly. I have a TOAD Thatcham immobiliser sat in a box which I should fit and also can tidy up the wiring under the dash. It is so good to have done something on Frank hopefully there will be more tomorrow hopefully. Dan

I bet you thought this project had just driven off in to the sunset never to be heard of again, no such luck I'm afraid.
getting Frank ready for last years season i started getting back ache that wouldent go away and deteriorated till 2 discs migrated out from the safety of my spine and started having intimate relations with all the nearby nerves, which basicly ened work and play from june, after 2 months of laying on my back binge watching Startrek TNG an MRI scan, phizio and an obscene amount of painkillers, i was alowed to go back to work, still in pain but at least earning, then my company moved me from one site and i was back on minimum wage, it felt like i might not be able to play cars for a very long time, that was followed by bought of depression which took me to some very dark places in my head, luckily i had the sense to get some professional help and our local nhs services got me help inside a couple of weeks. feeling less dark but coaping with life, a mate had a sports masseuse visit him and she had a go at my hamstrings, wow suddenly almost no pain, it didnt last long but over the next couple of months I'm on less pain killers, more mobile and i can contemplate working on my cars agin.
Plans are a foot

Oh nice BX my mum had a goldy bronze gsa estate I loved it cant rember why we changed it for an even rarer 2 door astra estate, which i alway used to make me feel sick traveling in the back of, but i digress you mentioned about using waxoil to protect the subframe please read this first. www.bilthamber.com/media/downloads/PG-BH13-001.pdf I swear by the stuff easy to apply and so far seems to work very well, only thing ive tryed i didn't like was their seam sealer. How did i miss this....... love it
There is a factory hole just where you need it behind that blanking plate on the bulkhead.
What did the mgzr hub conversion entail?
Great project. Dan

Nice throttle bodies, if you want a standalone ecu suggestion i think you cant get better value for money than a microsquirt its a very capable ecu, with great community behind it. mine just keeps getting better the more i play with it, i have a running driving car that goes quite well and ive not been near a dyno with it yet. if i can be of any assistance please let me know. Dan

I think your next work van needs to be wrapped in bubble wrap and 3m reflective tape.

I'm probably teaching granny to suck eggs here but. When fitting new tyers there is normaly a red and yellow dots on the tyre wall, red spot indicates the high spot on the tyer and gose next to the white low point marker on the wheel if there is one, if not then the yellow dot which indicates the lightest point on the tyer goes next to the valve. This should reduce tyre vibration and assist in using the least amount of weights. Dan
