first I have to find a decent welder and colect some funds for that cause..
but some spots, like the front panel, just need some work with the wire brush so that's on top of my to do list.

Took off the front wings and made some pictures: A pillar right hand side, doesn't look too bad mainly surface rust where the a pillar meets the paraffan, has been welded before Right inner wing, also patched before, but a lot of surface rust Front panel right side, left looks the same, I think they used the wrong sealant when they filled the gap between the front and the wing. Has to be acid free but I guess it wasn't and it ate the paintwork. The wings have been changed just before I bought it, by a garage (found the bill in the glove box) Left A pillar, had a spot of rust in the middle which needs to be welded. The inner wing is spotless. Rusty steering column, started from under the paraffan (which also has been changed recently. The window sill looks tidy enough. Floor in the front left corner, very bad, but I think i have a repair panel for this Floor and inner sill at the right side, has to be welded up properly next is removing the fuel tank and see what grot is around there.. sills and wheel arches are bad on the rear..

and the top spec models came with TRX tyres as stated before.. they are not as bas as you think though. Maybe a bit expensive but if you compare them with a set of new michelins they aren't so expensive at all..

browse abay for something cheap, with a solid body and a powerfull enough engine so you don't have to start doing bodywork or engine swapping, that'll come later..
Also look for average mileage (don't buy 300k+ stuff, allthough it looks cheap)
not too big to save on fuel..
something like a micra 1.3 16v, starlet 1.3 12v.
i'd recommend something late eighties to begin with, fairly simple technology and proven reliability..
or you could just buy an old Jag V12 and go crazy

In Holland these are tax exempt, so it makes sense to import a rust free one from the states and swap the technical bits with your rusty old european..
also prizes on these are at the bottom atm due to emission and all in california, this one was imported in '01
