I love looking in on this thread now and again to see how you're doing, I'm so glad to see that you're business has grown! I realise it's extremely tough right now for businesses, and particularly food and drink businesses, but it looks like you're capitalising on opportunities to do things you couldn't while the premises was trading, ready for the big re-opening! I have my own business, which I'm sailing through these difficult waters, and my other half decided to take the plunge and start her own business a few months before Covid hit! We're both still growning our businesses, still adapting to a fast changing situation, and still optimistic about the future. Keep up the great work! Thanks. Good luck with your businesses. Not to be too obviously nebby, but what are they? Thanks Geordie, the best of luck with yours too. I run a car interiors business and my partner has a shop and studio. She's been harder hit as she's been forced to close, whereas I've been able to keep going with some sensible social distancing measures in place. That's difficult enough, so when I think about food and drink businesses like yours the impact must be enormous. A lot of business owners I've spoken to (including cafe owners) have been really positive and optimistic despite the difficulties, I think everyone is just chomping at the bit ready to come back bigger and better when we're allowed out!

Looking at the 1st photo I would have assumed that this was a rendering! Really cool that it isn't. Tom I'm fairly sure it is a render. The detail photos are from a different (real) car, probably the one in the video. Cool concept, and I like the reals ones in the videos!

I've had my Mk1 for about a year and a half, using it as a daily driver and part-time van for lugging stuff up and down the country. It's definitely not a fast thing, I've got the early model with about 120bhp and I think the more powerful facelift would help it along a treat (or a B16 head swap... but let's not go there). Fuel economy is pretty unimpressive. My driving is mainly A and B roads and I get mid- to late-20s MPG. Saying that, I do like it as a daily driver and as much as I think a diesel-engined small van would suit my needs better, I'm loathe to move the Honda on as it's been a solid and reliable, practical workhorse. And in the recent snow we've had it's been a real help, sure-footed and not really fased by the conditions at all. And it's got a picnic table in the back under the floor!

I love a lifted 4x4, these are shocking off road though so need all the help they can get. Last heavy snow I had to tow a CRV and an X5 up Moel Famau to the carpark. Yeah they're not really a 4x4, more an estate car with some ground clearance and part-time 4wd in case the road is a bit muddy.

They're not the quickest of machines, although a B16 head on the Mk1 B20 engine gives it some pep apparently. Makes the VTEC kick in (yo)

I'm looking to buy a Mk1 Mazda MX5 / Eunos. Needs to be in good general condition (I've got enough projects!), MOT'd and running etc. I don't mind doing a few small jobs if it needs them but ideally I'd like a nice tidy example. I don't mind if it's standard or modified. Location unimportant, I'll travel for the right car. Let me know if you have anything suitable You still after one? Sorry I didn't spot this earlier! I might be... although impending works van purchase might scupper any plans... do you have one for sale?

Vinyl wrapping is an interesting option. I'd be cautious about removing the old shell, it might be preferable to repair the cracks with filler and give the wrap a smooth, even substrate to stick to rather than remove it and have a possibly lumpy, uneven surface to cover. Better to speak to a vinyl wrap specialist about what the options are. Certainly if it was being retrimmed, those hard vac-formed vinyl shells generally stay in place and get repaired before covering in leather / alcantara etc. I'd be interested in knowing whether a vinyl wrapped dash would be possible on a dash like yours.

Filling the cracks in a solid plastic dash isn't really the hard bit, that can be done with a flexible filler such as those used on plastic bumper repairs. The tricky bit is replicating the texture, particularly after sanding back the filler as you'll have scuffed surrounding plastic too. I'd say that unless it's a very small, localised repair where a small area of texture can be successfully replicated with a repair kit (I'll dig out a link to the type I've used before), then the best option would be to have the dash flocked afterwards. This does mean the dash has to come out but then if you're going to a proper job filling the cracks, it would need to be on a bench anyway.
*Edit* I just read your post properly and realised the dash isn't hard plastic but a vinyl shell over compressed fibre. The flexible filler and flocking method above would still work. There are vinyl repair kits that could be used on this kind of dash but I've never found them that effective for anything more than very small spot repairs. The finish is often shiny compared to the rest of the dash. You normally get a selection of texture cards which you use to print on the texture that matches your original. Again, I've had mixed success. If someone does have a product they can recommend for such repairs, I'd be interested too.

I'm loving the new look, I know what a lot of work stuff like this is!!
One minor thing: On my laptop I'm getting a logout button on the top bar even when I'm not logged in... don't know if it's meant to be there or not but thought I'd mention it.

Hopefully I'll have enough work on meaning I'll be working throughout, although I'm hoping to have weekends free and some time on my projects. I have a little river cruiser project that me and the good lady have been working on together but the lockdown travel restrictions probably mean that we won't be visiting it for a bit. Shame as I was just getting to grips with sorting the solar charger. Keep meaning to make a thread in the Other Mods section about it but I struggle enough updating my car build threads as it is!

Sorry filmidget I didn't mean my last comment to come across as negative - I think it's a good idea! In a house setting I think painted and shiny would be more fitting. In a garage scenario that's a different matter and both would look good!

Paint it. I think that will be the difference between "interesting room centrepiece" and "piece of scrap nailed to the wall"

The in-tank lift pumps often fail and then the injection pump tries to drag all the fuel up to the engine drawing in loads of air as it does. This is what happened on my e39. Normally the system bleeds itself when the lift pump primes. I've never had to bleed one when opening up the fuel system, when it's all been working properly.
