1,30am monday i was on my c pap machine ,woke couldn t breathe , as if someone was standing on my chest . i had the mother of all heart burn . i had this before twice and it was 2 massive heart attacks 7 years ago . i panicked run to sink and started being sick , violently , then went to sit down and started burning up . i wanted to ring for an ambulance , but thought what if i waste there time ,,. there loads of people sicker than me .the hospital is rampant with corona , still i held back . at this point i couldn t manage the pain so i rung 999. 10 minutes later 2 paramedics where working with me but couldn t get the wee tabs to stick because of the amount of sweating i was haven . they got some sort of reading , straight in to back of ambulance 20 more at me , at this point eta 10 mins blues and twos. i spent all night in resuss , them trying to get the heart under control , heart rate 188 220 dropping to the floor then up .high fever , breathing all over the place , loads of meds dripps pills i was tranfered for 2 days to ae in separate room . the a and e was in all over the place ambulances cued up a and rammed , well 2 days later i was told it wasn t another heart attack but fluid in the lungs the heart was struggling to cope i have AF arterial fiblaration and mi , retaing water etc all along with an other load of problems . i was pumped full of vitamins fluid antibotics and stuff the get rid of the body fluids .this is why the lungs started filling .scans ex rays etc , today the consultant came into tell me all that happened and what nearly happened .last night i watched my heart rate stay around 188 166 fall to 33 then 20 shot back up and down ,blood pressure on the floor ,, and all i could think was is this the end . the result of all this was a chemist that said they done my repeat prescriptions but hadn t had me run for a week telling me they had . so i rung the doctor who said no they never asked for them , a week with no heart tables fluid tabs dibetic tables etc nearly killed me so moral of the story ,order your own tables don t rely on a chemist merry xmas am back

Thankfully a happy ending, do not get me started on the doctor/pharmacy relationship!
Most of the kids I work with are on regular meds (and I mean regular, the exact same prescription for years at a time) and each time it went wrong the doctors blamed the pharmacy, the pharmacy blamed the doctors.
We changed pharmacy, and it continued to happen, so we changed five kids over to a different surgery and all was well, it had been the doctors all along...
The a few months later, it started happening again! Turns out the surgery had been taken over by the first lot!!!
A formal, evidenced complaint was made and it hasn't happened again.
Our lads without their meds won't die, but quite possibly someone around them will get seriously hurt. But it won't be Mr or Mrs Pharmacy, and it won't be Mr or Mrs Doctor.
...and according to them, they never make mistakes!!! Have a hot rod ambulance to aid your recovery.

Glad your ok
Docs and pharmacy, Iβve been in and out of hospital since March with fits and seizures, my neurologist keeps changing my meds, but the update are delayed in reaching my gp or pharmacy and they keep blaming this damn coronavirus. On the plus side itβs coming to 2 months of seizure free, 10 more months and I get my license back, canβt wait, π vroom vroom vroom π
Glad your ok, get some rest in, stay safe and Mary Xmas

Glad to see you are in the mend, my dad has AF and when they messed around with his drugs (they say they were improved but my suspicion was they were cheaper) he ended up in a similar state, touch wood for the last 6 or 7 years he has been fine with the drugs and a pacemaker, amazing how effective modern medicine can be when done right.

Hi Owen, That sounds like a really close call, doctors can bury their mistakes i have to go back to mine. Chemists and doctors always blame each other, occasionally i get left without tablets due to mix ups and generally end up going to the chemist to βborrowβ some tablets even although i am shielding. Hope you are feeling better and make a decent recovery. All the best, Norman

I'm glad that you're on the mend. Please people take your meds and also encourage other people if you know they're on them, it's not nagging. It's because you care. It might seem like a thankless laborious task but... I've watched my son in intensive care for two ten day periods in his life. His mum suggested a med to the Doctors which helped him no end in getting better. He's on a stack of meds now but he's gone past the age they never told us about.

That sounds bloody scary!!!! I have said to my wife on more than one occasion that getting to our age (over 65) unscathed is a lottery and this is just what I am relating to. Glad you are ok now. Take care people!

Glad to hear you are well now. I have rapid AF, and only found this out after collapsing at home one night. Got put in the back of a ambulance and rushed to A&E. For a while I kept thinking something was not quite right. But did the normal man thing and carried on. So if you think something is not right, get it checked out.

god bless modern medicine and the NHS π I couldnt agree more. All the best shielsey, Ive not been through what youve been through but having been involved in a medical emergency recently I know where you are comming from. Ive got my own covid situation going on at the moment so I know first hand what heros the NHS are. Things are very much in the balance atm and could go either way. But I don't want to wallow in that too much, so have a retro because it makes me feel better. EDIT: Just realised its not actualy real, which suits me fine.
