i suck at photoshop, but this is my best effort: ![](http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/4615/image1mxa.png) ditched the antenna, side indicator, rubbing strips, rover logo behind the rear door, de-oranged the headlights and tried to colourcode the chrome strip ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

Seems what you've done is take away many of the things I quite like about the car.... hahah I want to get rid of the C pillar Rover badges at some point, and not sure on the work to get rid of the antenna... but I definately don't use it anyway as radio sucks ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) As for the question 'when will it be finished'.. well I only wanted to add these couple of things to the car, no huge bits of work because its just a daily... but the wheels depends if I can score a set cheap enough, and coil chopping will occur after my MOT (Expect a thread about chopping coils in the coming months lol)

I quite like the lack of rub strips and colour-coded bumpers. It's a bit too modern for my tastes, but if you make it look like your pchop, It'll be kool.
I'm troubled by your claims that radio is rubbish, though. You need to get onto R4, mate. It's got the lot - rural British sigh-a-thon, The Archers, three hours of shouty, newscore argumentalism on Today and 30 minutes of purile comedy at 6:00pm every weekday evening.
And if, like myself, you spend a lot of your weekend writhing around to electronic music that sounds like an old printer in dingy North London nightspots, it makes you feel all warm and intellectual the following morning when you can tune in to a nice reading of Evelyn Waugh or somesuch.
In short, don't shave the antenna.

Besides, you can't get Russian rap on the radio, or Dubstep during the day ;D

Here is the vision: ![](http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/1296/sicku.jpg) But without the reverse rake my quick photoshop managed to create ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) I like that, and I also like these little Rovers. I borrowed a 214SEi the other week (the older wedge style) and was surprised at how much go the 1400 K has. I would take the side strips off, though, and colour code the door handles (or just buy a set of red ones from a breakers). Oh, and keep an eye on the coolant levels ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) .

I borrowed one of these for a few months a few years ago. It was a very nice car to drive, untill the headgasket blew ;D But, retro?? I certainly think not. But each to their own ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

My mates got an 02 plate 25 in blue with the same engine as you i think that he got from his nan (who burned the clutch out in under 10k =/). On a camping trip to wales with 4 people and loads of stuff, it was well gutless, but with 2 people in it it seems decent. It seems to have very long gear ratios for such a small engine that makes the car feel really heavy when accelerating. If you could get a box with shorter gears I bet it'd go alot better, did they put one in the MG versions or any other rover/MG cars? And for those who are saying its not retro, for an 02 reg car to have no ABS is surely a sign of its age bearing in mind it's not a TVR. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I almost always get jerky throttle in second going around town, but I can't just sit in first all the time! I agree with the getting a box with shorter gears but its a lot of fuss for what is basically a 300 pound ecobox, the car isn't worth it! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I'm only doing stuff to this which I can put on another car like wheels and subwoofers etc. It works that's the main thing.

Nice daily. Now that you have some rims, hurry up and get an MOT so you can go spring chopping!

I like the idea of white wheels, but I'd keep the body completely stock, and as per one of your earlier posts, return the rear spoiler to black. The 'bubble' 200 was a neatly styled car, and as with so many cars, the black trim elements actually help the styling - e.g. compare a first generation Vectra to the facelifted version - the earlier one is a much more cohesive design. On the 200, the side strips are also an interesting shape and reflect the overall styling themes. Keeping them also means less chance of paint damage / unfaded paint issues etc!

Yeahh, I get you, I was just wondering if anyone knew if you can get a shorter geared box out of a scrap MG or something, I'm considering one of these if I can insure one and if you could get a box on the cheap I think it'd be a good buy. Planning any performance mods or you leaving it standard as its a daily?

The problem with posting that car on E38 is that it's E38. If you haven't got some shagged VW that scraping its exhaust on the ground you will get flamed. Because they like to be open minded and such.
I like the bubble 200s, and the K Series engine (despite its well publicised HG weakness) is a decent lump if well maintained and the coolant levels watched diligently. Any 1400 engine with 102 bhp is alright in my book.
I drove the same engine gearbox \ combo in a 414 of the same era and was pretty impressed. My mate Hamed had fitted a K&N air filter and went it came on cam it howled beautifully - well, better than any dreary box had any right to.
The only thing that bothered me about those 200s (and this is odd I know) is the flick sliders that open and close the airvents. They looked very dated and completely out of place in a 'modern' car with a 16 valve motor and a modern stereo.
If it was mine, I'd leave it alone, sod the spring chopping. It's your everyday car, you want as little hassle with it as possible. It'll compromise how usable it is, you won't be able to carry heavy loads \ lots of people, and the pagg headed Plod will use it as a reason to have a go at you. Save the money \ effort for the Golf.
....although if you must change something on it, try and find a set of those BRM alloys, they'd look the tits on it.

NOW DO THIS... ![](http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/4615/image1mxa.png) Would be very cool. And easy to achieve - little more lowering, rub strip removal, bit of colour coding... done. For less than a tenner. Seriously man you have no option! You have to! ;D
