Ooh yes the colour and period of those wheels make it look spot on now.

I agree with you both that it is a huge improvement. The other wheels will also get refinished and used over winter. I am toying with the idea of doing them black but I think with silver it just looks so much cleaner!

Those wheels suit the car a lot more. Was thinking that it needed lowering, then I saw the next photo.

That was 6 pages worth reading! Keep it up, looking smart. I was 50/50 on the splitter with body coloured grill but 100% yes with the black one.

Last weekend we went back down to Bodensee to visit my girlfriend's mum. First long drive on the suspension and wheels and even my girlfriend commented on how good it drives. It's not too firm for a long distance journey. Whilst there I managed to find a new imasaf RS1600i pattern exhaust at a price that was too cheap to ignore! So when I got back I got it back up on the ramp and got it fitted. I am going to have to trim the tailpipe down because it is a bit too long but I am very happy with how it looks and it has a nice sound to it too. I have since adjusted it a bit so that it doesn't bang against the tank but the tailpipe sticks out further now.

Nice car and mint condition.
The few mods had been good choices, looks ace.
Really liking the "grand pa"-spec color.

Hey people! I have now owned this car a year and on the same day it had its birthday! 36 years old on 20th June. I was supposed to be driving it back to England on that day but because of the current rules I couldn't. Instead yesterday I spent way more time than I should have giving it a proper good clean and polish. Now I am not one for this posh polishing thing or whatever they call it these days and too be honest I get bored very quickly ( I am a Punk Rock fan so have a short attention..... Where was a again?) but I wanted to get the paint looking good and get it protected properly so did a bit of research. I found out about some stuff called paint sealer and I can remember one of my ex girlfriend's having some Jetseal for her mk2 golf and it always looking good so set out to buy some. I then saw the price and decided to see if eBay would help and it sure did! 10 euro auction win! Reason up on how to use the stuff I found out that you have to start by clay barring and polishing the car so I went out and got a clay bar set and I already had car polish for my guitar. Clay barring takes any dirt out of the paint that would be in there. This is from the first little spot I did in one of the cleaner areas. Seems to work. I did panel by panel first claying and then polishing, it is soul destroying work and at some points I was really questioning my sanity! Luckily I have my underground garage so it wasn't hot like outside. I then applied paint sealer and went home for about 3 hours and watched rally videos and ate a couple of hot dogs. After that I returned to the garage and buffed the paint sealer off and I have to say I was amazed with the results. Some internet people suggested waxing on top of the paint sealer so I thought why the hell not! The results are pretty damn good if I do say so myself. This is the Arsenal of stuff I used. Would I do this again, yeah I I had the time I probably would. Luckily it something that only needs doing maximum twice a year. I think before winter I will seal the paint again. And after all that tomorrow I will drive it 800kms to Lyon to visit my brother!

That looks fantastic. All I used to get the Fiesta paint to shine was T-cut, Autiglym polish and Turtle wax. This makes me feel I missed out

Hey Retro Riders! It's been a long time since I updated this thread so thought I would update you all on what has been going on. In August I took it on a very long drive from Cologne to Leyland which was amazing. It was interesting driving it through England and seeing all the appreciation it got on the road. It reminded me of what a car mad nation England is! On the way home I even took it for a break at Prodrive. If I ever move back to England that is where I want to work! After being in England I then bought this little distraction which is super cool! It's a 1969 Zündapp R50 and was restored 10 years ago and then rarely used. I love just buzzing around the city on it. A couple of weeks ago I put my winter wheels back on and a bit of the bronze/brown paint was peeling so I pulled at it only to find it was vinyl wrap and underneath they are chromed. Sadly on a couple of wheels the chrome has peeled off but for this winter it's OK. Thanks for reading and all the best to you all in this weird time we live in. Rob

I wasn't expecting to see this when I opened it up! However, it's pleasantly surprising to see this. This is how cars used to have modifications done more commonly back in the day. For some reason this also reminds me of a car a neighbour had. He wanted my dad's MkIV XR3i, but insurance was the issue. The chap did however have a tired Orion 1.6i Ghia. He eventually would get a red MkIII which had an XR3i bodykit on it, but a Series 1 RS Turbo interior as well as an RS Turbo engine. He loved that car, but it eventually got hit as unsurprisingly, it was a bit of a jump in power from an Orion! I do at times however miss my RS Turbo. That said, at that particular time in life, it wasn't quite the right car for me, so I can't moan too much . The noise is what I won't forget. Every journey was an event however, sometimes not quite the right event!
