A quick but not particularly exciting update on the Legend, RockAuto came through with the goods as they usually do. Ordered a pair of driveshafts, pair of track rod ends and an oil filter as the oil probably needs doing fairly soon. So far I have fitted none of those! I did do battle with the car last weekend though, returning the suspension to standard struts with lowering springs in place of the Accord coilovers Long story short, it was a bit of a pain in the neck. I did end up scrolling back through this thread to find out how I'd refitted the struts in the past for example but the bonus is that the car rides nicer again now, and actually on the stock wheels, doesn't look like it's riding massively high anyway. Jobs that are left to do, are the driveshafts, front upper control arms and track rod ends. All of which I'm very tempted to farm out to a garage to do (if I can find one I trust...) as I don't know if I can be bothered! I also need to try and get all my heater fan speeds working again, do an oil change, and the thing needs a damn good clean. With all that out of the way, it will likely be going up for sale. I've had just over 3 years with the Legend now and while it's generally been a pretty good servant, it's time for something else Good work Adam. Did I mention TRUCK? .

the BMW v8 swapped Hilux in the for sale section has certainly attracted my interest, I think a bit beyond my current skills though.
Other half wants to buy a sofa bed but it won't fit in her 207 or my Legend, so maybe truck is the answer π

You will have to do a lot of mental acrobatics and maths to get to a single vehicle that does the most. For me, this extra cab S10 was a great answer. Seats 3, plus a skeleton sideways behind the passenger. The load bed is a 6 foot bed, so decent load capacity. There are a few decent Dodge trucks on Unusual Cars on FB Marketplace at the moment, around the Β£5k level. Alsoβ¦β¦β¦.. pistonpopper may have something to considerβ¦β¦ I certainly did. PS. I will spend your money for you.

Damn it it's usually me spending other people's money for them π
the shoe is on the other foot haha
The yellow pickup isn't quite for me, I can appreciate a good truck, just not sure I can see me in one yet.
Big engined estates are more my thing, although options for those are a bit thin on the ground without spending a lot these days.
Maybe if some American v8 estate, impala or Buick or something came up for sale, I may have to satisfy my curiosity π€

American wagons, in V8 flavour are floating about ranging from Β£3450.00 upwards. Loads of survivors have come in in the last few years. pedalcarjoe had a medium sized Ford a few years ago. And of course Dez runs one, in van shape. They are out there, and to be found when you are ready.

The opportunity to spend somebody else's money is my specific super power... glad to move my fingers from grizz wallet to yours Adam.... May I present for your spending please a 1970 Mercury park lane wagon. Apparently it was a very nice fully loaded 9 passenger car when it was parked and was used to tow the owners horse trailer with it big 429 engine with power everything. Unfortunately itβs been sat knee deep in grass and filthy getting so getting it out would be a challenge but apparently $3-4k would probably buy it. Room for the sofa bed, chest of draws and dinning room table PLUS Big Block. I will make arrangements to extract the cash from your wallet immediately.... P.

I did enquire about the yellow Dodge Ram as I'm still on the lookout for a pickup, but got bogged down in messaging a mate of a mate of a seller. Can't believe you've had the Legend 3 years already...been following with interest for quite some time. I'll bet the ride quality has improved no end back on OEM suspension...mine was one of the most comfy and wafty barges I even owned before I put some cheap coilovers on it π¬

Paul Y I actually love that I just don't think I have the balls to run something like it I did see a 70s Ford large station wagon on marketplace the other day but I can't seem to find it again, it was bright yellow too which I'm sure would have ruffled a few feathers in the work car park Paul I know, 3 years has gone by quick! It's funny to look back at the start when I still had hopes of finishing my E34 estate build.. Would quite fancy that now in a way haha The stock dampers with lowering springs are certainly better, I probably could have got the coilovers to ride better but could not be bothered with changing the settings then driving then changing again etc. Also the front passenger side locking ring had worked itself loose on the coilover, which was interesting... May have slowly been lowering itself on it's own!

aside from a little spate of engine cutting out a couple years back, it's been a pretty solid reliable daily. Dropped it off at the garage yesterday to have new front upper suspension arms, track rods and driveshafts fitted, which will hopefully fix the odd juddering at motorway speeds. After that, a new MOT and it will be up for sale

I meant to do a follow-on update but evidently I forgot! Changing the driveshafts has eliminated the shake at motorway speeds so I'm very happy about that, I've not really done much else with the car apart from clean and tidy it up a bit as daily driving over winter makes it look filthy very quickly. It is booked in for an MOT in a couple weeks, but the bigger news is that I've actually put it up for sale! I still really enjoy driving it, but it's been 3 years of ownership now, which is one of my longer term cars (aside from the MG) and a couple mates are planning a return to the Nurburgring and other track days this year, which is giving me the itch to get out on track again, which is not where the Legend belongs! I've not actually planned what it's replacement will be yet, I've got my eye on a couple things, but as I live within walking/cycling distance from work these days, I can afford to be without a car for a short time if neccessary forum.retro-rides.org/thread/221328/honda-legend-coupe-3750ono-coventry

Well it's final post on the Legend time, it passed it's MOT with flying colours and since then I've just been dealing with the usual barrage of low offers and random swaps/part ex offers that come with selling a car on the internet these days. I'd been offered such varied swaps as a Mini Cooper S, a BMW 325i E92, a Mk3 Mondeo, and a Mercedes 300D W124 but in the end a buyer came up today, liked the car and agreed a fair price, so it's gone after 3 and a bit years! It's been an interesting daily driver in that it's quite a lesser known car that blends in a bit, but it actually gets quite a lot of attention just from driving around with plenty of appreciative glances and nods. I bought it because I thought it was cool (my usual criteria for buying a car ) but didn't really expect to have it this long! The big question now is what do I replace it with! I've had a few ideas but nothing has really jumped out at me yet, I can guarantee that whatever I do get will end up modded and have it's own thread on here though

You are right, it is a noticeable car for sure.
I remember driving up your street and clocking it right up at the top of the road.
And it is a good looker too.
Have you pointed the new owner here at all?
Or not that type?

Thanks guys π I didn't mention it explicitly to the new owner but I did link to this thread in my eBay ad so he may have seen it.
He did say he'd let me know once he'd got started working on the bodywork of the car so if I get any pics through in the future I'll chuck them up here π

I know there's quite a following for the Acura Legend out in the US and they do like their JDM or UK/European versions as well but I didn't think mine would be worthy of export but here we are haha

To be honest I was a bit sceptical when he first contacted me through eBay as he came up as US based and was willing to pay near enough the asking price without even seeing the car in person! But it seems that he's got a niche in importing rhd cars to the US and people are looking for that sort of thing over there?
Was a decent bloke when he turned up to have a look and buy the car anyway π
I'm still on the main Acura legend FB group and see posts occasionally I'll keep half an eye out for it, be funny to see where it ends up π
